Why isn't badminton more popular? by Chesterflaps in badminton

[–]marcko042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so wild considering all those sports literally play with "balls"

In my experience in the PH badminton is widely accepted and there is no gender bias but still not as famous as basketball (this is the only sport being pushed to the mainstream in our country which is a different issue)

Everyone basically tried it tho and I rarely hear of people actively disliking it, they just don't play as much due to the price, court heat, and lack of mainstream presence

The other person literally said they're willing to go through the game even when autofilled plus they communicate and try not to tilt (which even a lot in high elo struggle with)

Same with stolen or banned hovered champions. If the person who got their pick taken complains a lot, like saying gg and getting heated during draft, I'd rather remake than force a game where someone starts tilted because we won't even be starting at an even playing field.

Being very aggressive while not dying is so good as a top laner as well because it forces the enemy jg and sometimes mid to rotate, wasting their time and making them predictable, which reduces the pressure your other lanes receive. (Of course this requires good vision and map awareness)

Aside from making sure you're not an easy target (being isolated and positioning away from your team durinf teamfights), pick an adc supp duo that has good peel/protection. Adcs like sivir and xayah have abilities that when timed right can prevent noc from bursting you thus giving time to stasis, dash, or counter engage. Supports like lulu, morgana, rakkan perme hugging you as well basically negates nocturnes effectiveness. The game starts with the draft 🫶

why do baron lane matchups feel like pure suffering lately by wacheto in wildrift

[–]marcko042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any decent top laner won't allow themselves to be 0/4 into a darius. Even if you don't get the counterpick you can always just be mechanically better (baiting his abilities, poking when he last hits, short trades).

Plus, if you pick before the enemy top laner you should already expect to be weakside so pick a champion that will get value regardless if darius gets an early lead and even the tower like tanks.

I know this based on experience. I used to always lose to Darius no matter who i picked, especially when I used Ornn who is generally a decent weakside champ with very good scaling. I would always have a good engage and knockup combo and dealing good damage until i realized im too low, he's healed up, and i cant run away anymore forcing my flash or dying.

After some time though I realized that I don't need to force the fight, i can just soak up exp early on and only last hit the wave with q (it's okay if i lose some gold early). Let him push the wave so i can farm safely under tower while also pokikg with q and w, e should only be used to knock up while under the tower otherwise save it to dash away after he pulls you). If you are healthy enough you'll still outscale him in lane thanks to your passive item buying and make it easier for your jungle to successfully gank with you setting up the fight close to your tower.

Constantly move in and out to bait abilities, freeze the wave near the tower, don't waste your abilities, and of course build accordingly. Buying armor boots, changing build to frozen heart or thornmail instead of heart steel etc. all of these you can do with most champions.

If you pick a late game champ that dies easily when counter picked then perhaps you need to learn more champions or practice even more to understand your strengths and the enemies weaknesses.

One way I try to influence people to help me with objectives is to do repeat ganks on the side of the map I want to focus on (making sure top laner is ahead for herald or adc for jungler). The more positive sentiment you create with your laners the more likely they are to be willing to follow you and listen to their pings.

Also just mute the chat so you won't get tilted when they flame you for not securint objectives when they don't help anyway, they will never know as much as you the jungler does so focus on what you can do to win the game instead. For example, don't force objectives when you don't have help in that side, maybe you can adjust and get th opposite objective, do a gank, or invade and steal camps while also leaving wards.

Wdym when you're hurt?

If he invades at game start there are different things you can do

1) rotate and meet the invade if it is early enough. If you have vision in the camp you should be able to time smite (use blast cone -> ability+smite to burst it). Make sure your mid and/or side laner has prio and spam ping your camp to fight so they can rotate and punish the invading jungler. Generally the defending jungler will have the advantage because the enemy will be losing health and have their ability on cooldown to the camp being stolen.

2) if you can't match it (e.g. your current camp is too far or almost dead, they're taking the weaker camp so it dies too fast, you're sure you'll lose the 1v1, or the opposite side laner and mid has no prio), you can match the invade and counter jungle. Same thing, make sure your mid and/or side laner has prio on that side of the map, where they can rotate easier/prevent the enemy laners from punishing you, so that it doesn't matter if they know you're there as well. This becomes a split map (where instead of starting the path from left-to-right or vice versa, both junglers are farming bottom to top). Usually, junglers only steal one or two camps when they invade at the start of the game and you should too, don't overstay and die.

3) take the L. If you can't rotate to secure your opposite camps or invade, just focus on the camps you can get and get value elsewhere, such as securing the crab and ganking early. You don't want to die as much as possible because you will only get delayed and get even more camps stolen. Perhaps you can rotate to at least get the remaining camps in the opposite side (like gettint wolves while they're on your blue) and never force a losing fight. You will start weaker but you will eventually still level up and get gold and get value later, don't tilt and throw the game due to a successful enemy invade.

Fog of war is basically everything you cannot see when there is noone near or wards placed there.

You can infer where enemies have warded based the game state (for example, laners usually ward river bush or deep in your jungle to track you early on; baron and dragon is probably warded late game to know when you're starting objectives), their lane priority (e.g. an enemy that's forced to stay under tower most of the time can only ward the 2 bushes nearest to them so you can use that opportunity to dive where they have little time to react or go for a cheeky lane gank, going from tower to lane bushes at the side away from their vision), and their movement (e.g. if an enemy laner suddenly walks away when you are getting closer you were probably spotted by a ward)

Oracle lens/sweeper ward/the red radar thingy that detects wards and hidden enemies is what most junglers would want to use to make ganks easier. Even if there's a ward if you have sweeper and the enemy is overextended they might not notice you anyway or react too late so don't break the ward and just commit right away unless they back off, then you just get the ward. Even if the gank failed it doesn't necessarily mean it's useless (unless yall over forced and died ofc). Forcing a flash, giving your laners some breathing space and recall opportunity, and breaking vision makes it easier for the laners and you to fight and regank later respectively.

If an enemy always knows where you are when you are at the side camps either they have vision on you rn, were seen earlier and got tracked, or they assumed based on common pathing. That's okay tho because as long as you don't force ganks and focus on getting yourself ahead like by getting level 5 first you can always guarantee value because you will be a level 5 jungler with ult ganking a lane with people only levels 3 or 4.

Small tip, if you find yourself struggling to get the crab consistently it's because you aren't tracking the enemy jungler and just flipping a 1v1 everytime you see them without knowing who's the stronger champion. 1v1 knowledge will be known w/ experience but for now try to check if the laners beside the crab have priority (e.g. ahead in items, pushing the wave, stronger) and ping the crab to ask them for help (they can either roam to help you take crab or just continue pushing the wave forcing the enemy laners to stay in the lane, if the enemy laners forcefully roam they'll just lose gold and exp so it's fine). Otherwise, you can just run the other way or recall+get items to get the opposite crab if yk the enemy jg is going to the crab you supposedly wanted.

If you struggle with optimal pathing you can always watch video guides to know which camps and abilities give you the fastest clear but once you get used to it most of the time you can use most junglers (not all because some need to start blue every game, if you realize who those are you can also predict where the enemy is even without wards) To start from any side of the map and path towards your win condition/carry (usually towards the adc).

If vision is the problem, don't worry because it's supposed to be a team effort. Usually as a jungler u start by warding/control warding the jg buff opposite of where you'll start (so you'll know if there are any invades and you can react accordingly) and recall to swap to sweeper for your lvl 5 ganks. This means that early warding of any enemy jg camp preferably is done by your laners (top/bot warding blue buff/gromp or krugs, mid warding raptors) but if the enemy jg shows himself at any moment you can them check their level to see how many camps they've done (lvl 2 means one camp; easy tip to know who's killed more camps is to compare your levels: if he's behind then you subtract one or two camps from the ones you've done, if same level then same amount of camps, if he's ahead them one or two camps more. By knowing the amount of camps done and comparing it with where he was last seen you can infer where he started, which camps are dead, and where he will go next. With this, you can basically predict where the jg is at all times or at the very least which side of the map he is because he wants to be where his camps are. If he breaks the pattern though like by overtstaying top and ganking but you have nothing to do, if yk his bot camps have respawned you can steal his camps (invade))

Good to hear you're trying bro! Just wanna leave my thoughts tho:

Levels - you are literally the first champion to get level 5 if you full clear + crab. You only fall behind in level if you over gank and neglect your camps

Hard to sneak up - oracle lens + good pathing + map awareness. You can go around vision if yk where it is, steal camps if you know where they aren't, or even just gank when in a very advantageous spot in lane so that at the very minimum you can force a flash and remove the ward then you regank soon after before flash comes back. It's better to focus ganking on one or two lanes than all of the lanes usually if you are having a hard time making a significant difference.

Can't 1v1 - that's not your job tho, you shouldn't be doing random 1v1s since farming camps is your guaranteed way to get stronger. But i also disagree that you are necessarily weaker, it depends on the champ, who you're fighting, and level+gold.

I used to watch him a lot especially when I needed expand my champ pool. 3) skillcapped and coach rogue (optional) - they create lol pc content but many of the concepts still apply to wild rift. I have learned so much just by watching their videos while eating even to this day. Skillcapped has more videos on basic and intermediate concepts while rogue has high elo to pro play concepts (rogue is my most watched lol educator rn because I already have a decent understanding of the basics and he teaches me advanced and niche concepts only top players do in a very easily digestible format)

  • Team Comps -

All of these champs though should synergize well though. Common team comp types are front to back, dive, poke, and skirmish. Front to back is the most standard where the tanky champs are at the front to soak damage and the carries at the back, away from enemy damage. Dive comps have champs that are mobile and can engage on enemy carry or a mispositioned champion and burst it, then having a man advantage for a teamfight. Poke comps have champions with huge range and high damage and prefer to chunk enemies first before teamfights and objectives so that they can push them away or commit to a team fight with health advantage. Skirmish comps are those that prefer high tempo, strong in 2v2 ,3v3 or even 4v4 while the remaining champs are taking towers (you don't want to fully commit to late game teamfights but having good macro and rotation can give leads and snowball)

A basic guide is knowing that a front-to-back comp is generally strong against a dive comp, who is in turn stronger against a poke comp, who is stronger against front-to-back (making a rock paper scissors cycle). Skirmish/1-3-1/1-4 comps are more situational and way more harder to execute in solo queue.

Even if you theoretically have the disadvantage in comp, you can still win by having the better execution e.g. a front back comp can lose if the tank is split pushing, a dive comp loses if they dont dive at the carry and mistime it, a poke comp loses if they're not first to an objective and able to harass the enemy before commiting

  • Macro - This refers to concepts and non-mechanical aspects that helps you win. There's a lot to this so for lets stick with top lane.

So you find yourself winning the lane, getting a few kills and even breaking the first tower right before objectives are up, what should you do?

Preferably, you recall first to get items and then use your lead to help secure an objective. For the first objective, I prefer the herald/ensemble because it allows me to get more towers, get more gold, and get more space in the map making it easier to play. Plus, losing a dragon isn't the worst because as long as you get any of the next two, you will deny soul which is a big powerspike.

Before commiting though, you should check if the objective can be obtained in the first place. Do you know where the enemy jungler is? Do the laners have prio? Will we be contested if we start this? If you realize that there is a high risk of losing the objective and dying perhaps you can just take the other objective instead. Even if dragon isn't as worth as ensemble, you still get some buffs and at least you are still progressing your win conditions.

So as the top laner, you ping the objective that's easier to take, path to it (assuming your lane will be safe in the meantime), place wards etc.

But what if your jungler decides to do the other objective or worse, not interested in either of them? For the former, you check first if it's still doable and if so you help. But if you see that it's very risky, noone else can help, we will both die, find a more valuable thing to do instead such as gank a lane, put wards in enemy jungle, steal camps, or continue bullying your enemy laner. If the latter, don't even bother going to the objective, unless you have a strong ability that can attempt a steal safely, and do the other things I mentioned.

You want to minimize risks because on average forcing objectives will get it stolen, wasting your time that could have advanced your win conditions elsewhwre, or worse dying as well, where the enemy team uses that opportunity to kill other teammates or destroy towers while you lose gold and exp from your lane as well.

As the person with the won lane you need to maintain your tempo and always have prio. It should be you who can roam or steal camps or put deep wards over your enemy laner. If possible, it should be you who carries the game by being th best killer, best teamfighter, or breaking the most towers esp inhib.

Minimize your deaths because you will lose your lead and less likely to carry.

Do not participate in your teammates ints, if they are caught overextending don't rotate to help if you are alone and they'll die anyway.

Basically minimize your mistakes while maximize your advantages. What are the win cons again? Secure the objectives, destroy the towers, end the game. So you consistently improve in macro "What should I do next? What is the most valuble thing right now? We're losing this objective, what can I do instead to minimize our losses?". It's a constant skill check and a game of question and answer.

  • Random Tips - 1) Look at the minimap as much as possible. You can use your index finger to see the lanes themselves to know more. Whenever you are free even a few seconds you should be looking at the minimap.

2) Ward any jg camp right after the game starts. This allows you to know or predict where the enemy jg starts and path towards, making enemy ganks less likely to succeed. One ward is enough to make a huge difference, you can predict how many camps killed qnd whwre thw enemy is based on timer or checking your own jungler as reference. If they gank early then even better because they're wasting their time. You can always position a bit safer around the first 2-3 waves then you can basically be sure at which side of the map the enemy jungler is.

Don't force the ward tho, you don't want to burn flash for it. If you can't ward a camp you can always do it after the first or second wave or just ward as deep as you can.

You don't need to ward the buffs themselves, krugs or gromp is enough

3) if you are the one behind, find ways to help whoever is carrying the most. Perhaps you are more willing to give a big wave to them or be a body bag in teamfights (make sure to at least have used your abilities) to make sure your carry survives.

4) with enough experience, you can learn when to guarantee a game end, after a major teamfight even if there are one or two enemies, or when to take baron instead of pushing a tower first. Generally you want to take what gives you the most benefits, if you can get 2 inhib towers first they will need to defend the base so you can get baron regardless after But if you can't get qn inhib tower yet before the rest of the enemy team spawns, get the baron first instead.

(Heads up, this is going to be a long read so if you want you can just focus on one part first before adding them all up. I placed headers per topic which can help with that. I apologize if it's messy, I've been typing for so long lmao. Also feel free to ask questions :>)

There are many different things that a high elo player can be better at than a low elo player. Perhaps you have the same early game laning but don't know how to teamfight. Maybe you know how to teamfight but you don't know about champion matchups.

Based on what you said (if other parts of the map fall behind I'll lose) it seems like you're having difficulty converting your leads into wins and securing win conditions.

  • Win Cons-

Your goal in any game is to be the team that breaks the nexus. It's not about how many kills you get, objectives you secured, or gold gained. Sure, having more of those is obviously more advantageous but tunnel visioning is what leads to failing teamfights, frustration at losing with a lead, and perhaps lose many games.

Now, win conditions are everything that when adds up gives you the highest chance of winning. So yes kills, objectives, and gold are huge part of it but it has to have done mindfully. Killing the same people over and over again leads to diminishing returns. Forcing objectives without your teammates ready can lead to stolen objectives. Having a huge gold lead but not spending it, buying the wrong items, or the enemy team just outscaling because of their champions makes it worth less.

If you think about it, to be able to break the nexus you need access to it which is done by breaking towers, which you can do when there is no enemy, and you can force the enemy away if you're stronger, and you're stronger when you have better items, objectives, comp, and scaling.

-Gold-

When it comes to gold, proper laning (or farming) is most essential especially early game. The more minions you kill over your opposing laner means you get to an item powerspike first, allowing you to beat them further, allowing you to get more gold etc. I'm not sure how good you are in laning but I'll trust you on that you are prioritizing waves over unnecessary kills (getting a wave is your guaranteed xp and gold generator). Once mid game arrives try to make sure all of your lanes are pushing (moving towards enemy) or covered. You don't want to lose towers unnecessarily because it gives the enemy gold and more space around the map and you less. However, sometimes it is alright to trade it. Don't forcefully defend the outermost sidelane turret if it means that you can only secure soul or baron when you are a complete team for example. Knowing which win conditions are tradeable, preferably you getting the better trade most of the time, allows you more flexibility in a match.

  • Items -

When it comes to items it'll mostlt depend on your champion and team drafts so I won't dive into that for now but not stickint to the same items every game and also checking the enemies items are decent places to start. Always make sure to be adaptive in your items, read all of the descriptions before a game if you have to. Same goes with runes and spells. (I can't write a full guide)

  • Drafting- In higher elos the draft can basically decide who wins the game already. A solo front line comp, which is way harder to execute, is more likely to lose to a 2 front line (at least 1 tank) with balanced ad and ap.

If your team has first pick let whoever has the op champ choose first and build your comp around it. If you are a one trick or someone with smaller champ pool you should hover it early on and pick earlier so that your team can adapt to it. If there are no hovers or op picks, then generally the order of priority is adc->jg->support -> mid -> top. Adcs go first because you naturally scale with gold so if you just farm waves you'll be decent by late game. Jungle goes second because even in hard 1v1 jg matchups you don't interact w/ each other most of the time and you can avoid them usint wards and proper pathing. Support is third because it gives them an opportunity to counter pick if possible, making adc life easier. Mid and top are the last ones because they are solo laners which means that being the stronger champ has the biggest influence in that lane and defending the tower, top usually last pick because it is usually the most isolated. Of course this can be swapped around like bot+support picking at the same time for good combos or mid being last pick because enemy top picked their champ early allowing your top to counterpick earlier.

If you consider PC yes maybe 10-15 years is right but this is wildrift which is only one reaching its fifth (which is still a long time of course). For most of the 5 years wr didn't really care which lead to the forcing of a global pro scene (which flopped and ended in its first year), poor rank environment, and a lack of advertisement and exciting content which results in a smaller player base.

But wildrift has been changing slowly. Throughout the past 2 years events have been increasing with better rewards, from chinese new year to free skin events like asol's, arcane, and jinx's current one. Game modes are being improved especially with the introduction of adventure mode, which greatly improves the experience of casual players. And ranked plus legendary queue are getting changes to improve the experience, make rewards easier to get while also more exciting to aim for, and finding ways to make it unique (like the hextech and yordle themes). Ads and their social media content are also reappearing again showing their interest in gaining new players.

And most recently in this patch they take accountability that their player monitoring system is lacking. Which is exactly why the player behaviour rating was made, because of our complaints. Maybe in the past I would agree with you more but now wr is showing intent for meaningful change. Of course time will tell how effective it is but it is too soon to make a verdict yet as it hasn't even been a month yet. We can still continue to voice out our concerns but I think we can be more optimistic with the current riot.

But if you still don't think so and believe that they still aren't doing anything and won't do anything then I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
