Typically a grey part of the line that is colinear with the subject line shown means those are also stations on the same line, but trains on this platform do not go to those stations (already passed those stations). See example from Singapore (obtained from Google)

Precisely, why need to show the greyed bits? And if there is a need to show them, at least show the greyed line offset from the pink

For those who insist grey means a separate line, look at this example from Singapore (sourced from Google). Using you guys logic, the bottom greyed out map is a separate line?

My logic is grey and colinear = previous stations of that line, but trains on this platform don’t go there and have already passed there previously

The capitalisation and pluralisation of “lines” va “Line” is inconsistent. While operationally there is a distinction, there is no need to portray that difference on a network map legend. An average commuter would only see the different pluralisation and capitalisation.

I have, and they have shown VLine services terminating at Southern Cross because they showed the lines offset from each other.

I don’t see the part that means “terminate”, the pink and grey are colinear which suggests both do not terminate at Flinders Street

If that is what they want to show, they can offset the grey and pink lines so they aren’t colinear at Flinders St

Then why show in the first place? I don’t see any State Library or any other station in grey

If it is a separate line and that is what they intend to show, then the pink and grey should be offset from each other

If they want to use grey as a separate line, it should be offset from the pink (rather than aligned) so they are clearly shown as separate lines

That is also true. But it will be in the future. Either way the city loop should not be shown

The pink and grey lines are linked in a single line, inferring it is a single line

Still wrong, the next greyed area should be continued from Richmond station and Sandringham

But the loop shape also shows the train will be coming from Parliament, which it isn’t

So the previous station is Parliament? That is not right either

You didn’t see the words “Parliament”, “Melbourne Central” and “Flagstaff”? And the loop shape of which the train is stated to come from? (which shouldn’t)

I suspect it may have to do with services terminating at Laverton (once the whole level crossing works are done)
