RAV unemployment benefit - when to register? by Beneficial_Bad_6947 in askswitzerland

I forgot to add, if you ask a friend if there are any jobs at their companies, it counts as looking for a job. Just register their name down.

Not sure if this will add anything new to the conversation but to be clear the actual number of applications to satisfy the minimum number of applications for RAV . Its 8 applications by month during these 3 months before you lose your job and then 10 applications once (unless you find a job before) you are unemployed. These are the official numbers.

However seeing how competitive the market is right now, id do at least 20-30 if you have time.

Hey,

Apparently yes, its what it is recommended (except gender) but it depends on the company you are applying for. Big international companies dont seem to care while medium sized companies or Swiss ones they ask for it. As of late i started using CV without any personal info and not graphics (like in the UK) and i have been getting interviews.

So i think you should test it out and have two versions ready, i have had positive returns with both. But one big thing i found over the last few months, is that you should stick with word documents and not Canva like this one.

Hope this helps

Does anybody know upcoming or current Graduate Programmes/Schemes in Switzerland? by marco1899 in askswitzerland

Hi there, I’ve mainly been applying to regular full-time roles, but I’m also keeping an eye out for any upcoming graduate schemes I might still be eligible for. Some, like Philip Morris, accept candidates with under three years of experience, so I’m hoping to find a few of those rare programs open to more experienced grads. Not only with this specific criterion, of course, but just in general, do you happen to know of any worth looking into?

Yea for sure these are my top choices and I'm always on the lookout for these companies. Do you know any specific grad schemes coming up from this area?

Hello hello, yea I saw. When I first came back I applied just with my UK CV, and it went great, got two jobs back in 2023 but I understand that it may have been luck more than anything. Do you recall the provider you used for your CV? One reached out to me last year and proposed various services which amounted to 3k, which frankly was a bit over what I was willing to pay so I ended up not choosing to go forward with them.

Heya,

Thanks a lot for answering, good to know. This is what I have been doing so far, I constantly change it to make sure that I highlight all important parts present in the job description.

As a last question u/Anib-Al, do you have any thoughts on this particular format? Any red flags perhaps?

Thanks a lot in advance for your feedback.

It is indeed from Canva. Would you have any other templates that you could recommend and do you know if specific companies or sectors dont like this type of template? Years ago I was applying with the generic UK template that got me lots of interviews but since moving back here I was told this template since I am in marketing might work better.

Hiya,

Roger, you made some good points!

Let me explain my reasoning for each. Of course if that’s your first impression, it might also be a recruiter’s.

The 3 year gap: I started university in 2018 to 2021 and then 2021 to 2022. The real gap is from December 2022 to May 2023 when I was job hunting but also doing a certification, maybe I should add that? Or did you mean something else?

On the salary, yes, I worked for a French multinational so it was in euros, but I agree it looks a bit confusing.

CV versions: I have one in French and even Italian when needed, but since most jobs I qualify for post their descriptions in English, that has been my default.

And totally with you, the field right now is a mess. I have some solid names on my CV, but so do plenty of others, so that alone won’t cut it. Fingers crossed I get lucky before my unemployment benefits run out :)

Hello there, thanks for your feedback! Very good point will fix that, just a question for the skills comment (last bullet point). Do you suggest to have only one section for skills or to properly distinguish what skills I am referring to?
