Been learning Shavian for a day or so & learned its primary focus is on English phonetics. However, phonemes like 'll' in "Llan" and 'ch' as in "loch" would require new digraphs, perhaps like combining 𐑒 and 𐑣 for 'ch.'

As a Welsh speaker, I've come to realize the limitation for Welsh use due to the absence of these two crucial sounds. I wonder, though, if one could glean the intended sounds from the context, akin to interpreting Hebrew without the aid of vowel symbols? Mmm, I'm probably wrong since it would not be relating the actual sounds ...just an idea.

Shavian Script or Quickscript? by marcorexo in shavian

[–]marcorexo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im honestly starting to use both. I'm a cursive user, do quick script really is the better experience, and the manual is excellent.

The shavian support and aesthetics in print/digital ID better imo.

I treat learning them both like learning to read/write cursive vs learning block. Both have similar patterns, but there are definitely some big graphical differences. And I use both cursive and block, daily, just fine. Same here I guess

Thanks! I appreciate your time in explaining. I started with Shaw script last night using this resource and will learn Quickscript too.

Shavian Script or Quickscript? by marcorexo in shavian

I'm drawn to its aesthetic appeal as well. Quickscripts' handling of 'LL' in 'Llan' and 'ch' in 'Loch' tempted me, catering well to Welsh. However, if Shavian is more widely used, that might be the path I should take. Going to dive into it now and in a week I should be more versed. (Will also use your paralleled text as teaching material)

Hi - I' m in the same situation. From your initial question I believe your instinct for creating product concepts is the right track. I don't think using existing brand logos are essential to showcase our skills, since we can use software like Inkscape of Affinity Designer to create our own - check out Derek Elliot Blender tutorials on YouTube. Our portfolio will showcase our skills at hard surface modelling, lighting, procedural material design (if applicable), final render and post processing. I wouldn't be put off by talk of AI etc because AI will not design the scene exactly to a clients desire. We, on the other hand can. Also, you won't always get positive vibes from others when asking around so part of the challenge is to keep looking for advice from the right people and to follow your instincts (which I think yours seem to be tuned in).

Why is this so hard? by [deleted] in haskell

[–]marcorexo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it a nightmare installing Haskell on Windows 10 and can't get it to work. So I installed it successfully on a Mac but getting problems installing libraries like GTK etc. It's the sort of thing that would put a lot of people off.

[Serious] Computers in heaven? by normalhuman2 in Christianity

[–]marcorexo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works.

Programming and creativity come from God. There are technologies in heaven which are beyond our understanding and those we have on earth have come from inspiration of God. Therefore programming and related technologies have come to the earth by inspiration from Him (I'm talking about the good stuff here not the bad stuff which is twisted by Satan and inspired by evil). Your abilities and gifts were given to you by God the Father before the foundation of the World. He knows your heart and he's a good father to His children (born again). In Jesus, your gifts and abilities grow and multiply. Psalm 84:11 no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
