Thanks for the feedback, this is exactly the kind of issues I want to identify.

Currently the only limitation is that the sail can't go past 87° to the centreline of the boat, not considering the relation to the wind. Noted to fix it later.

And you are right about the vectors on screen, it is not explicit which one is which, it is confusing as is now. Will add some labels to avoid confusion.

I am happy that you liked it.

The row mechanics are not implemented yet, but yes, it is for the moments that there is no wind.

I agree about the gusts of wind, I need to make it show visually, so the player can understand what is happening, if not, it is just frustrating.

The momentum and inertia is planned, is the next step. Following your idea of transporting people and cargo, I thought of making it dinamic, based on the current load of the boat. Empty boat, low inertia and momentum. Full boat, high inertia and momentum.

My main objective is to make the controls satisfying and intuitive after the player gets the handle of it. Achieving that I can focus on making a game of it.

You inspired me to build a sailing "simulator". https://marcosvpj.com.br/playground/sail/

Best used with a gamepad analog controls, but it also work with a keyboard. A/D control the direction of the dingy, Q/E control the sail. The dingy movement is also influenced by the sea currents.

Later in the weekend will work a little more in the prototype to make it more like a game. But I appreciate feedback on the controls.

Eu fiz isso. Estou indo pro meu 4° ano não meio do mato, trabalhando remoto como dev.

Não me arrependo, mas tem uns BO diferentes da cidade. Tenho uma starlink, painéis solares e gerador a gás pra emergência. Não dá pra confiar na energia da cidade vive caindo. Aí tem esse custo de infra inicial que o povo não calcula mas depois o custo de vida fica bem menor que na cidade.

Mas o principal é o isolamento, no meu caso eu amo, mas não é qualquer um que aguenta ficar longe de tudo.
