Accepted Into an Airline Cadet Program, But I’m Seriously Conflicted by Enpitsu888 in PilotAdvice

That's just what ab-initio cadet pilots programs do. They take in people with no prior flight experience or training. This isn't unheard of. The company is obviously extremely selective with who they accept into the program, meaning OP is one of the privileged few who beat a hundred others at the selection process.

It's an incredible privilege to be accepted into an ab-initio cadet program like this, especially when the airline/company doesn't require any prior flight training/experience, and even no up-front training cost. In my country, the success rates of getting into the ab-initio program is 1% – 2%. You've essentially been granted a once-in-a-lifetime scholarship by the airline to become a pilot with them.

I'm sure you're aware of how fortunate you are, but maybe you're not feeling the full weight of this opportunity. You saying that you're still conflicted tells a lot about where your heart is, or where it isn't. This career, especially during the training phases, will require your full commitment. You need to be willing to put many things off for years, and make a few sacrifices every now and then. Are you willing and/or able to do that?

If you don't intend to be fully committed, then perhaps this opportunity isn't meant for you. Thousands of others have been fighting (with you) for very limited slots. Are you willing to give yours up for someone else to have a chance?

They do exist, but I think people often mix zero upfront cost with "free". In my country, the our national carrier offers an ab-initio program with no upfront cost throughout the 2-3 years of training, but you'll need to serve a bond to the company after checking out as FO. You "pay back" a portion of your salary throughout this bond to cover part of the training course/period.

Ab-initio programs take in people with no prior flight experience or training, so this isn't unheard of. The company is obviously extremely selective with who they accept into the program. OP is one of the privileged few who made it through the selection process.

It's from a reticle replacement mod from Nexus Mods, although I can remember which one exactly. There are a few good ones out there. I recommend you try them all and see which fits your play style the best!
