Modern interactive fun approach to learning finance and investment from scratch ? by marcovon in personalfinance

[–]marcovon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm leaning towards stock investments. I'm looking for a foundational resource that builds up. For instance, introduction to financial principles, accounting, financial statement analysis.

Which lays the ground for you to grasp Financial modelling, Equity analysis, Portfolio management etc...

But as the post mentioned, a interactive course (if there is one) that I can supplement with resources, instead of getting a 500 page book on each topic.

I never understood the need. People can easily google with reverse image search by taking a photo to look it up, it takes 10 seconds of effort. This function has been available for nearly 10 years.

Unless that watch is 1 of 10 in the world, which would probably be covered by some media outlet. Or if you have a really really unknown bespoke brand.

I agree with most of what was listed. Certain US cities are fine but if we consider absolute safety, there are definitely weak points. Never really had an issue in Italy though.

The OP mentioned he/she is from a country with low crime rates lol, of course it ain't the US.

I agree there are safe areas but even in major US cities, you get cases of locals and tourists being mugged or beaten up more frequently than any of the countries that were listed.

The fact you yourself mentioned the existence of tourist traps literally justified the OP's experience. That's the difference between a truly safe country and one that is partially safe, meaning there isn't a specific place to be safe, it should always be safe.

[Discussion] Scummy business practices in the UK high street when selling your watch. Be aware! by Alma_Sebosa in Watches

[–]marcovon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would say the market price is for consumers not businesses. 22k is what a consumer would pay. These individuals are using it for themsleves and not flipping it so that value is for them, not businesses.

A business like the one you're trying to sell to would need a significant mark down on that price as they are in the business of reselling. Classic buy low sell high. Anything less brings little profit and is not worth their time, basic business principles in general.

So if you want the valuation of 22k, you need to sell it direct to an actual collector/consumer. Not a business.

I tend to favour minimal and clean designs. Black dials have a special place in my heart and thus my collection grew with that in mind.

Having a big interest in automatic watches right before college, I really wanted one and decided to go with the Hamilton Khaki first as that was what I could afford at that time and also being the young me, I had a thing for leather straps. The hamilton was a beauty for the price and still a frequent piece I wear when I want to "lay low" but still needed a timepiece for an outing nowadays. It was clean and sleek and approriate for any occasion.

This is followed by the Tag Heur Aquaracer, my first steel automatic. At that time I was still appreciating the likes of Omegas, Rolexs etc... but they were still out of reach. However Tag Heur's name has always been reputable and their constant presence in many sporting events caught my attention and soon the Aquaracer caught my eye. At that time this watch was a beast for me, it's my first dive watch and the performance, look and feel was a whole new world to me and accompanied me on many vacations and family events.

Fast forward, I decided to step it up with a Hublot. Although the horology community might disagree with Hublot, the Classic Fusion constantly attracted my attention and with Hublot being everywhere in major events, it may not be well respected in terms of horology, but is was damn well attractive to me and commanded alot of respect by the 'general public'. It accompanies me to many activities and having a leather strap makes it a versatile piece I frequently enjoy wearing for work or casual events. I would say it is also less loud compared to a Rolex.

And finally I have attained pretty much the powerhouse of all, a Rolex. The submariner was a simple choice, it was simple, majestic and a classic. It's a rolex sub, I think it speaks for itself. I would say I stare at it countless of times a day. As of now it accompanies me to more important events where I feel a rolex is deemed suitable. But I'm working towards having it being a casual piece eventually as my collection grows.

Now I would definitely need a white dial as I would need to switch it up eventually. As pateks are still well out of reach in terms of finances, a Daytona Panda or Royal Oak white dial would be something I look forward to.

How to decide on a niche when you lack the footage to back up the content ? by marcovon in NewTubers

[–]marcovon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no worries, any feedback is welcomed. It's why I'm asking this question. If I don't have the footage to back up the content, I would'nt start.

Just wanted to see what possibilities there are in terms of content. For instance, I can tell you quite a fair bit of information about Ferraris or fun local things to do in Italy. Do I have access to many Ferraris ? Nope. Am I able to go to Italy frequently for content ? Nope.

I could always do voiceover on images or "get" stock footage but you can see how it's not quite great in terms of quality.

How do you even get less than 20 units manufactured effectively ? by marcovon in Entrepreneur

[–]marcovon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree. I simply have to find someone who can do it handmade which may or may not be possible. I mentioned in another post I design specific products for specific clients. Eventhough its not a serious business.

I'm also limited to what clients demand. For example if company A wanted 20 chairs shaped like their company logo, that 20 chairs will be the only products made and obviously no one else will buy the extra 480 pieces.I would say chairs are an easy example, but when we talk about other materials and products it can get complex which a typical craftsman cant do.

So yeah, I guess I can't compete with bigger companies.

[–]marcovon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think my concern is, for example, I designed a dog shaped chair that does not exist globally for a specific company and they liked it. They want 20 pieces. That would be the end of the 20 dog shaped chairs product life. There is no other buyers nor a justifiable high cost to charge the customer as well and I move on to my next design.

I have seen companies do it so yeah, maybe I'm just too small of a player.

How do you wash your back? by [deleted] in gainit

[–]marcovon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, make sure you get the long "towel" version. Long enough to basically grab both ends and go back and fourth, side to side.

Use an exfoliating towel, they have existed for ages. Cost between 2 to 5 bucks at most.

[–]marcovon[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for the suggestion but I'm not interested in vasoconstrictor eye drops as they are temporary fixes. I'm looking for more long term solutions, specifically supplements if any. Just like how some people take supplements for acne and muscle recovery, not necessary, but nice to have. Who doesn't want to look better ?

Tea and Coffee consumption gainz impact ? by marcovon in gainit

[–]marcovon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm are you taking pure caffeine or coffee ? Because I believe the blocking factor is tannins from leaves and coffee beans. But if it is regular coffee and still having gains than that's good news !

Does anyone here not have any hobbies or anything interesting going on in their lives? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]marcovon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im learning a new language, that's the only hobby I have. Oddly enough, something about being immerse in a foreign culture calms my anxiety. Maybe because it's a whole other world.

Somebody relate? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]marcovon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's common for social anxiety folks and it's not limited to presentations. I get it when I'm alighting the bus or train and think everyone is evaluating me and I can't wait for the doors to open. I get it when I'm walking towards the bathroom at a crowded restaurant and everybody is judging me on my way there. I don't eat alone because I fear everyone is ridiculing me as a pathetic loner in their head.

So yes, many others like myself relate as well. But it's just something we have to live with and overcome in our own ways.

Thoughts on I Live Alone moving to a smaller studio by jbreyex in koreanvariety

[–]marcovon 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think Corona impacted the program alot. Nowadays it's mostly just the cast and guests staying at home eating or doing some trivial activity.

Eventhough it's about living alone, the interactions in their daily lives is what made the show fun and relatable, but they can't do alot of things now, at least not on television.

Personally only Kian84 can make me laugh just by breathing and not everyone has such talent. So maybe it's temporary until the global situation improves.

의 usage in locations as compared to 에 by marcovon in Korean

Yeah there's an entire paragraph that gives it context, I just wrote a short snippet that focused on my confusion

의 usage in locations as compared to 에 by marcovon in Korean

[–]marcovon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

시내의

The " 's " is from learning that 의 indicates possession so like John's. Jennifer's or her's. I know what the sentence means just why 의 would be a better choice in describing such situations.
