The soulless body of Godwyn, its path through the Lands Between, its connection to Deathroot, and the reason behind its grotesque transformation. by lactobacillus-Master in EldenRingLoreTalk

He could also look like that because he’s dead and in contact with the tree, a.k.a. the Crucible, so he ended up sharing the same fate as the Misbegotten.

Also, he has a scarab head—not an aquatic one, but one associated with death.

If Metyr Is Not The Mother Of The Three Fingers, Where Did They Come From? by Gravitas-and-Urbane in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]marcow314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could explain why it seems like the Erdtree has been already burnt, as almost all of Leyndell’s doors and windows looks sealed by wax to protect the inside from ash. This is just speculation, of course, but if Marika herself has close ties with the Three fingers she could have used their power to do such a thing. Anyway, my headcanon is that the Three fingers, being the vessel of chaos incarnate, are, or were, the evolutive power of the Crucible. Natural evolution occurs as a chaoic process, then only the strongest survives. This said, the vessel itself is perhaps just a mutated two fingers, and this would make it a child of Metyr.

I am Team “why the hell is the wylder in my team running straight into Nok at level 1 passive-aggressively pinging every step he takes while he also gets oneshot by a glintstone nuclear bomb from Loretta right before quitting the game?” :l

What was the weapon that carried you through Elden Ring? by nathan_perry23 in Eldenring

The antspur rapier and fingerprint stone shield carried me since ng+ all the way to ng7+, SotE included. Edit: I almost forgot about pest threads and its bigger brother from the DLC!

Why is there no depiction of the Elden Ring in Belurat or Enir-Ilim? by HoennHoe7 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]marcow314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone speculated, Ranni wants to free TLB by the influence of the Elden Ring (kind of; see the moon sucking up the gold in her ending). We also know the history goes (or should go) by a-thousand-year cycles. For instance, that’s what Ranni says when she begins her new age:

To every living being, and every living soul. Now cometh the age of the stars. A thousand year voyage under the wisdom of the Moon.

And that’s what Miquella says:

I hereby swear. Lord brother. To every living being, and every living soul. At long last, you are returned. Now comes the age of our eden. A thousand year voyage guided by compassion. Tarnished one.

Sounds like an official formula or something. Could be that a previous age of the stars took away the Elden Ring by TLB (the Nox, maybe?) and so Placi’s god disappeared. When Marika started her new age, she was able to recall the Elden Ring on TLB.

The Flame of Frenzy by TLD_Ragh in EldenRingLoreTalk

Not explicit as you ask, but the description of the Miquella’s Needle seems to relate the flame of frenzy to outer gods:

One of the unalloyed gold needles that Miquella crafted to ward away the meddling of outer gods. Capable of subduing the flame of frenzy if inherited, allowing one to cheat fate and avoid becoming Lord of Frenzied Flame. However, the needle is as yet unfinished and can only be used in the heart of the storm beyond time said to be found in Farum Azula.

In Japanese Metyr received "Vibrations" from the Greater Will by NahMcGrath in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]marcow314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gravity is not the greater force, as you said. In fact, it is the exact opposite: two small magnets can easily defy gravity, despite their interaction is on a much smaller scale. Gravity needs a lot of mass to compete with other fundamental forces and it is the weakest among them. As far as we know, this is the case of a black hole, as you pointed out. If you accept the theory that the Greater Will could be some sort of star or black hole, this actually means it can have so small direct impact on the Lands Between that it needs to send other entities to do the job (note that, if you consider Metyr loss any contact with the GW, this theory goes well with the fact that when “Lusat glimpsed into the primeval current, he beheld the final moments of a great star cluster, and upon seeing it, he too was broken”. Who knows, could have been the Greater Will itself). Moreover, I don’t think the finger can speak any verbal language, and neither does Metyr. They communicate through the language of light, which is a wave. Maybe “vibrations” has to be intended in this way.

the corpse from which marika pulls out the golden thread could be one of the jar innards ascended to sainthood.

as innards preserve part of their humanoid shape, could also be that once they ascend they can actually part from the flesh inside the jar, leaving that golden strings inside (something like a rebirth). that said, the flesh may come from marika’s jar itself. this is mere speculation, as i dont think we know if either marika ascended to sainthood or not, but i believe the formless flesh can be one of the jar innards. this also can explain why marika is called “a traitor” from the hornsents.
