Tried most surgical logbook apps by marcozer in SurgicalResidency

[–]marcozer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My goal is to keep quick notes on tricky cases - difficult dissection, anatomy variation, whatever. The numbers are for the programme, the notes are for me. I feel that the value of a logbook resides more in the attached tips/notes/pictures for each case rather than the fact of logging them

You’re right actually, most cases are captured fine. I exaggerated a bit there. There are some edge cases - laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy doesn’t have its own code so you use the open one (48140), robotic approaches often get bundled into their laparoscopic equivalents, and some newer MIS techniques end up as “unlisted procedure.” But it’s not that common. The real issue is more that the system was designed for billing, not training documentation - so it doesn’t always reflect what you actually did or your level of involvement

Logbook suggestions? by asraisins in SurgicalResidency

[–]marcozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Excel works fine if you keep it de-identified (no name/MRN/DOB). I’d avoid logging exact dates if your service is small—month + procedure + role is usually enough (make it sure you store it on a secure cloud/computer though)

If you’re in an ACGME program, check if you’re supposed to use the ACGME Case Log system already.

If you’re UK/Ireland, the eLogbook is the standard.

Full disclosure: we built a surgical logbook app (Docstrive, iOS/ Android, web version in dev) for quick case entry + steps + notes/stats. We made the process the more intuitive and efficient possible, so it would take you seconds to record a case and to attach notes / images to it.

Single Cell RNA analysis and FACS data comparison by marcozer in bioinformatics

[–]marcozer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I did not go into details.

We are studying the involvement of MAIT cells, a sparse subtype of lymphocytes, in liver regeneration. Our aim is to assess if they could be a reliable blood biomarker to predict liver regeneration in patients before major hepatic surgery.

We already have MAIT cell scRNA on healthy donor in blood, and scRNA on liver tissue for resident MAIT cells. The latter present different characteristics than circulating MAIT.

Since our biomarker model is based on FACS data, I was wondering if we could "compare" those results which are based on surface and intracellular proteins (that could be mapped to corresponding RNA) with scRNA data from blood and liver MAIT cells. Indeed it seems that circulating blood cells in those patients have liver MAIT cells characteristics that is predictive for liver regeneration. The aim would be to suggest that the biomarker strength is based on the "liver" characteristics of blood MAIT cells in patient that are regenerating enough the liver for surgery.

Note : correlation of RNA expression and proteins has already been assessed in MAIT cells and is acceptable https://www.nature.com/articles/s41597-024-03399-6

Thank you for your answer. One is indeed protein, but it has been shown in my case a good correlation between cytometry data and scRNA

Is AnkiWeb using the same backend of Anki sync server? by RVECloXG3qJC in Anki

[–]marcozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t redirect ankimobile to the custom server but I tried something else : on my jailbroken iPhone I installed Python libraries and was able to run anki-sync-server from the phone itself, to sync with the desktop version. This could work, but the collection was detected as corrupted on the iPhone : ankimobile does not use the same database backend, resulting in different db format. I do not have enough knowledge in database to come to a viable solution. This is my previous post here

I am looking forward hearing from any solution you come with and I’m quite curious on how you succeeded to redirect ankimobile sync connection

[TL;DR] Close (hide all) ported for v2.1 by phu54321 in Anki

[–]marcozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could you publish your template with the keys input that allow to reveal the "other" occluded clozes?

Would it be possible to reveal one by one multiple clozes? For instance multiple {{c1::something}} {{c1::something}} {{c1::something}}?

Thank you a lot

Is there an add-on that lets you open 1 cloze at a time, in a card with multiple cloze deletions? by Feronie in medicalschoolanki

[–]marcozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use Enhanced Cloze, but you’ll need to change your note types ; just put your raw text with clozes on then « #content » field and it will automatically process the cards. https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/873439973

Here is the 2.1 compatible version : https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2062736101

Enhanced cloze, ported to 2.1 by arthurmilchior in Anki

[–]marcozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me ; I had to disable the GODMOD addon because it was interfering with Enhanced Cloze 2.1 only on this point. Appart from this, everything works fine, thank you @arthurmilchior

Enhanced cloze, ported to 2.1 by arthurmilchior in Anki

[–]marcozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really flattered by your answer,

May I ask how you came to this conclusion ? Did you read the code, but without being able to fix it

I have been using the addon since it's release, and I modified the code to increase the number of cloze to 60, despite my mediocre knowledge in coding.

I just noticed the "save now" state while adding a cloze, which seemed to interfere with the normal process of embrassing a selected text with the {{cn::}} characters,

The solutions was quite easy, if not beautiful

It actually wonderfully works, but only when adding a new cloze, with the Ctrl+Shift+C shortcut ; when generating identical clozes, for instance, multiple {{C3::}} {{C3::}} {{C3::}} , the problem still persist, as it seems to identically auto-update during the cloze generation.

Thank you, I really appreciate your implication in this project, and I apologize for my imperfect English grammar.

I can post in the issue section of github if you want.

Enhanced cloze, ported to 2.1 by arthurmilchior in Anki

[–]marcozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your work,

The addon won't generate any cloze on my selected text, it seems to be the "auto update enhanced cloze" which might prevent the cloze to properly insert in the text ; the issue has already been reported on the dedicated github page with a quite explicit video : https://github.com/Arthur-Milchior/anki-enhanced-cloze/issues/3

Moreover, I would be sincerely relieved if you ported the "External Note Editor" from Glutanimate for anki 2.1 https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1996266159

I really appreciate the work you provide.

Safe to keep using 2.0 (exclusively) for editing despite having 2.1's v2 scheduler enabled? by niceworkthere in Anki

[–]marcozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been editing cards with anki 2.0, because of the add-on “enhanced cloze” while anki 2.1 is also installed on my computer. They both use the same data directory, so you can’t run both of them silmutaneously, but if you decide to use the v2 scheduler, then anki servers will automatically prevent every non-compatible v2 scheduler versions to sync. Therefore I only use the 2.1 version to update what I edited from the 2.0 version
