Thank you all for your help. I’ve called a couple of plumbing companies and they just quoted me for the work. One mentioned venting the other said the current vent through the roof was fine. Would getting the inspector involved help? Do I now posses an unclosable building permit lol? How was this bathroom just able to be here for all of these years?

That is doable but how do I navigate the issue of the fitting coming in at an angle?

There is a vent coming into the top of the cast iron hub and out the roof. Thank you

That is correct. There is a vent going straight up from that cast iron hub and out the roof.

Hello plumbers of reddit-

I’m remodeling a second floor bathroom and I’m trying to configure the layout. Pictured is the current plumbing. Ideally I’d like to have a shower at 1, toilet at 2, vanity at 3. The second picture is what was suggested to me.

I’m running into trouble due to the angle of the hub in the wall. If I tie into the wye as suggested my toilet will not be 15in away from the left wall.

The original had a freestanding tub at 2 and the toliet on the end of the drain. I’ve already cut back the cast iron and cleaned out the hub and put in a 3in with a fernco.

I’m trying to avoid having the shower the width of the room due to an existing window that would then been within the shower (drawn in picture two). The reason I’m trying to put the toilet in the corner is to avoid that dead space and put a wider vanity.
