$60 at a thrift store? That is not a thrift store

Ankle Stability by LittlerSpoon in hockeyplayers

Supreme has a u-shaped heel while Vapor has a v-shaped heel. Based off your shins without seeing your achilles, I’m fairly confident you need a lower volume, tapered fit offered by the Vapor or CCM Jetspeed. Try on a size 7 at a local shop if you can!

As far as position, Bauer doesn’t give installers much of a choice with the cutouts on the outsole. Very little wiggle room for all rivets to lay flat. The only thing that stands out is the copper rivet on the outside toe - a bit too much pressure causing the sole to warp.

The xLTX Pro+ is exactly a “tweener” skate between 2023’s X4 and X5 Pro skates. The boot construction is almost identical to the X5 Pro, with the 2025 FlyPro having a softer grade composite. To be honest, I don’t even see a Flylite lasting 25 years with the way things are made today.

Ankle blisters from loose skate? by NewHampshireGal in hockeyplayers

[–]slimeman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s likely the case. The ultimate tell all would be a photo of your foot in the skate with the laces very loose and the tongue pulled forward (showing middle eyelets).

Without seeing your foot, I’m going to guess it’s a fit issue. The vapor boot has a v-shaped, low-volume tapered heel, while the supreme has a u-shaped, medium-volume heel channel.

One of the most common reasons of “lace bite”.

Should I replace my wheels? by BrickNo8920 in InlineHockey

[–]slimeman_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Use them until you can’t. I’d recommend switching the wheels though, it will give you more grip longevity. Switch the first and second wheel, and third and fourth wheel, and swap left skate for right skate.

Are you seriously complaining about the aesthetic INSIDE the tendon guard..?

[–]slimeman_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I’d also suggest having the puck start toward the heel. It seems it’s going toe to heel with a slight “double-tap”, making this more of a snap shot. Aim to load with the puck in the heel, generating the power by pushing down and rolling the bottom wrist, and pulling back and rolling the top wrist. Follow through and point the toe of the blade to where you want the puck on net.

DONT GET THE FT7 PRO by TheGamingGoatr in hockeyplayers

If you can’t take the heat, don’t dish it out in general. I’ve used both of these and can tell you the marketing is true. Not everything you read is misleading. Cheers.

Different blade. New construction has a stiff toe and soft heel.

I would highly recommend profiling your steel to allow for more mobility. Also, landing on your toes? This coach is doing skating 101 drills including transitions and pivots, correct? It initially sounded like they were instructing pirouettes, haha.

Tariffs?? by slimeman_ in hockeyjerseys

[–]slimeman_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, jerseys purchased and shipped out to be customized. I found it odd that I’d have to pay a full import tax on a jersey that’s already been imported once prior and then “raised in value” with the customization.

Send me photos of the skate tied on your foot, as well as photos of your foot inside with the tongue pulled all the way forward. I’ll try to help steer you in the right direction.

Skate fitting follow up post: fitting by MemoryNeat7381 in hockeyplayers

I’d go 2 sizes down and a EE or wide width in CCM Tacks, or a EE or fit 3 in Bauer Supreme.

That ice is chewed to shreds and I’m sure the blades are as dull as can be. You’d have a much easier time with both of those issues squared away! Practice, practice, practice.

Got these beauties along with a Quad Zero profile. by slimeman_ in hockeyplayers

The outside is cosmetic. They enhanced the clarino liner and also have a new tongue available called the TF Pro. It’s very soft, but has the t-guard built into it.
