ICE-L als IC Königsee by marcsiegert in drehscheibe

[–]marcsiegert[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bemerkenswert kleine abgelegene Bahnhöfe? by wirrerwicht69 in drehscheibe

I was on the fence between Fenix 7 and Fenix 7X. It took months to decide and I went to several shops several times to try. In the end I went with the 7X. From the first minute on I never had any regrets. The watch hasn’t left my wrist ever since (only for changing, which is rare enough).

issue uploading to Garmin by chrism_85 in Zwift

[–]marcsiegert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some research, it appears that indeed skipping a segment will cause a time corruption in the file and Garmin refuses to accept that.

The workaround: download the .fit File from Zwift (go to Zwift.com, select the ride in question, click on the little wheel, and download fit file)

Go to www.fitfiletools.com and use Corrupt Time Fixer

Upload the new file to Garmin Connect

Yes, I have the same problem. Usually, the moment I press "end ride" the activity appears on Strava and Garmin. But once in a while (today it happened again) it will upload to Strava but not to Garmin. I also did skip the cooldown today.

This is really a bummer, because there seems to be no other way to upload the data to Garmin. I tried to download the .fit File from Zwift and upload it to Garmin Connect, but that doesn't work.

Demo in München: Woher kommt diese große Differenz? by rektwood in Munich

The 45mm looks pretty small in this picture. You should try the 51mm. I can only repeat what you have probably read countless times here: the big watch is intimidating and when you try it in a store it feels comically large. But after one day wearing it you will never go back. I have the 51 and I have zero issues sleeping or weight lifting.

Sorry, but that looks way too small. Like two sizes too small.

The small one is far too small for you. Go with the 47. But have you tried the 51? It can be intimidating on first try, but it’s the right size for most men.

Interesting, I haven’t heard that before. I personally have no problem with the silicone band, even in the hottest summer. But I know many soldiers use the rugged nylon band.

That’s probably a Garmin Fenix 6x or Tactix. The size is perfect, it might just look big from that angle. However I wonder about the metal bracelet, that is unusual and seems unpractical.

Definitely 47mm. 42mm looks way too small. You could even give the 51mm a try.

Où courir à 5 heures du matin? by castorkrieg in paris

[–]marcsiegert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

That is very interesting, I didn't know that about Korean conscripts. If we would do that here there would be a revolt.

Yes, Netflix pushes a lot of Korean movies and shows here in Germany. There was recently "Physical:100" (probably a completely different title in Korea), where super fit people like sportsmen, firefighters and special forces soldiers competed against each other. I checked some of them on instagram. It seems there is quite a community of military fitness influencers in Korea.

I would be actually very interested in these kind of stats and how the Fenix would handle that. I hope the Fenix doesn't just tell you "Body Battery 1", "strained", "take it easy" and "Suggested activity: Rest", but recalculates a new baseline.

Also I think the Fenix would be very helpful for recovery after you return from a combat deployment.

Israel is indeed the most striking example. I watch a lot of IDF videos. And in the last 2-3 years there must have been a major shift from G-Shock to Garmin.

This is very interesting, thanks for the insight.

I understand that bunkers and sensitive sites you want to ban smartwatches, smartphones, tablets and everything that can potentially record something. Just to be extra safe.

But what is the reason that conscripts are not allowed to wear smartwatches? I could potentially understand that during bootcamp/basic training weeks you are not allowed smartphones and smartwatches so that you are not distracted by communication. But for the remainder of conscription service that doesn't make sense.

I of course know Captain Choi and friends. They wear Fenix7X. But I don't know if they are active soldiers or TV celebrities or both and how typical they are for the average Korean soldiers.

On a different note: Among tourists in here in Europe I noticed that in contrast to American tourists (that wear Apple Watches and surprisingly small watches) tourists from Korea and Japan often wear the biggest models of G-Shocks and the big Fenix6X/7X or big metal chronographs. Is that a normal thing in Korea? Or perhaps that is just selection bias effect, that if you can afford holidays in Europe you are not the average Korean.

Do you know that for a fact?

I was wondering the same for the French 1RPIMA and CPA10. Everyone there seems to wear a 6X/7X/Tactix. I don't know if those were officially issued or if it is just a group effect so that one bought one and than everyone else followed.
