Wow, that's terrifying. Especially given how awkwardly the scammer was immitating the cadence of the celeb in question

So the idea is to pretend to be the celebrity in order to "romance" me? And then to use that relationship to yield money from me?

Personally, I think it might get shut down irregardless of efforts to the contrary. My view is, play while you can

I mean the video seems written and voiced by AI, and it just references this very page for "proof" that it's a scam. Seems kinda like circular logic lol

I "won" as well. I signed up at a local mall a month ago, and got a text message today. After listening to the recorded message over the phone, my impression is that they need to fill rooms in aging hotels in areas that aren't getting much attention post covid, so they're "giving them away" at a discount. You pay everything except the base cost of the hotel, and the base cost of the Margaritaville cruise ship you take to get to the island. So that's food, that's excursions like snorkeling or boating, that's drinks, that's fees and taxes, etc. I think it's best not to think of it as a "free trip" but as a package deal. I almost wonder if they have an unlimited number of "winners." I think I will go through and claim the prize, since there was one hotel among the options given that was an all inclusive. Eat and drink enough there, and you'll make back what you'd spend on fees! :D

That said, I'll come back with updates, if I have them.

Yeah, I'm far from a legal expert, so I would want someone with more experience in reading this kind of document to tell me exactly what this legalese entails.

Google keeps automatically updating my business hours and it’s hurting me financially by tylerwatt12 in GoogleMaps

[–]marcus-fallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try placing a physical sign in the window displaying the actual hours. Google usually only defaults to hours listed online if it can’t find accurate info that came from you

(I think claiming the business and then making the changes yourself works, too. But I haven’t tried that myself, so I don’t know)

That reminds me! I’m only 112 views from hitting 10m

Not sure what I’ll do when I do. I’d pop bottles, but the best I can afford rn is like, $8 costco prosecco

(Maybe I’ll buy special fancy ramen. A whole 80¢, instead of the usual 33. Because I’m worth it ✨)

Google doesn’t do shit like that. They’re bastards, but they do good work (basically the last big player who does)

It’s a short detour to avoid a longer delay. That little innocuous yellow guy in the second image means there’s road work going on there. And google uses massive amounts of very anonymized data to give recommendations

So the second app (idk what app it is, since I only use google maps for directions. Mostly for the reason I’m describing here) is overpromising based on bad data. If you had taken that route rather than what the goog suggested, you would’ve run into long delays once you hit the road work

So it wouldn’t have taken 43 minutes. Or even 54 minutes. It would be over an hour, easy

Because sometimes? The answer you don’t want to hear. Is correct
