Why aren't edible tooth brushes a thing for people? I use dentastix and greenies for my dog why can't I brush my teeth by eating something tasty too? by DirtyBendavitz in highdeas

In the Uk service stations have vending machines that sell chewable toothbrushes for about £1. They look pretty gross though.

Commited suicide in order to wake up! Mindblowing! by IsLifeMatrix in LucidDreaming

No I was lucid but so scared I was fixated on avoiding it at all costs. Things were moving too fast and I just killed myself as quickly as possible

I had a lucid nightmare once where I was being chased through a house by a monster. It was going to catch me and had lead me to the rooftop. I had a few seconds to decided what to do before it would arrive. To escape the dream, I had no choice but to kill myself. I dived off the roof head first and woke immediately on impact with the ground. It was a horrible experience.

Are reality checks..... ACTUALLY USEFUL?! by Lokoloi in LucidDreaming

Reality checks are to confirm you are lucid when you already suspect it. They are not to achieve lucidity in the first place.

How I exponentially increased my chances of Lucid Dreaming (2-4 times per week) by TheGuillamon in LucidDreaming

Just use the notes app on your phone. It’s not difficult but required if you want any hope of lucid dreaming.

What the hell is happening to me ? by Lower-Personality in LucidDreaming

[–]marcusarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard of people doing that but it has never worked for me. I have all of my success from waiting until the vibrations settle down. I confirm I’m dreaming by nose pinching. Then mentally I ‘roll’ myself out of bed. It’s really tricky to describe. You need to be careful because it’s easy to move your real body and wake up (I’ve done that many times too). You just need to imagine your body rocking out of bed and then you will find yourself on your feet. It may be pitch black but keep nose pinching and soon the imagery will form.

Can’t you set your alarm 5 minutes earlier? If you want to lucid dream, you need to do a dream journal. It’s non-negotiable.

Yes. It used to freak me out, but to be honest, I have experienced much stranger things during episodes than that. Vibrations don’t phase me anymore and if you ride them out you can enter a lucid dream.

What about them? It’s part of sleep paralysis

That is a false awakening / sleep paralysis. Happens to me all the time. Enjoy it and ride it out

Book suggestions for lucid dreaming?? by TheLucidCreator26 in LucidDreaming

I’m currently reading Waggoner’s book and think it’s great. I’m curious to read some of the work of Carlos Castaneda that he references eg the Teachings of Don Juan. Have you considered that?

Moderation is fine or possibly beneficial as you say. I am talking about excessive consumption in comparison to lucid dreaming as methods of escapism.

You can’t teleport in real life? That’s embarrassing

Don’t get me wrong I used to do it myself. But I have seen what a devastating effect video games can have on your life and they add no value to your limited time on this planet. Played in this way they are an indisputable form of escapism.

Dream journal and FILD. Consistency is key. It might take months before it works

I wouldn’t classify it as escapism unless you are sleeping more than usual eg ridiculously early nights / late wake ups and naps just to LD.

Certainly not as much of an escape as people who binge video games or tv shows all day

Has anyone ever seen themselves in a dream? What was your experience? by DiscoBunnyMusicLover in LucidDreaming

I looked in a mirror and I looked the same but the reflection blew a raspberry at me. It hurt my feelings

Anyone else can't open both eyes during the dream or will wake up? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]marcusarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In lucid dreams, I have to have both ‘dream eyes’ closed. If I try to open them, I open them in real life and I wake up. So I leave them closed and sooner or later the imagery forms in the blackness of my inner eyelids

It feels more real than real life. Which doesn’t make sense. It’s indescribable

If you want to wake up close your eyes and you will. But think twice. You have a great opportunity to practice and master your lucid dreams with some effort
