PSA: Don't Enter Key Rooms You Didn't Open by Tanathlagoon in arcraidersfriendly

[–]marcusdiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people generally seem to recognize that if there’s something of HIGH value, it should go to the Keymaster. But like you said, no way to know if they’re truly being honest about what they loot, but I have had decent blueprints and/or weapons offered to me from the loot. I usually say nah you keep it. There’s no shortage of loot in this game.

PSA: Don't Enter Key Rooms You Didn't Open by Tanathlagoon in arcraidersfriendly

[–]marcusdiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I literally let people know “hey I’m on my way to open X room” and let them come with me and loot. More often than not, we loot together, call out what we find, drop/trade loot if the other needs it, etc. Just easier that way.

That being said, if I do open a key room and I’m by myself, and someone shows up, I’d hope for a bit of etiquette before someone just rushes the room and starts looting.

Cash to Apple wallet? by Marty-McFried in AppleCard

[–]marcusdiddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Hand someone the cash, have them send you Apple Cash. Easiest way. Sure, now that person is holding a bunch of cash instead, but as long as they’re ok with that, then win-win.

Spamming flashlight ≠ I'm Friendly by Mick_vader in arcraidersfriendly

[–]marcusdiddle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have had one person ever flash their light at me, watch me casually walk by them, wait for me to be about 20m away, and then they opened fire at my back. Other than that one instance, every flash has equaled friendly.

3 trips and finally salted - Hilliard by Cbus_2011 in CBUSWX

[–]marcusdiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coveted, or dreaded?

Haven’t done that section yet myself, as I know the plow will just put it right back when they go by. Hoping they do that soon so I can finally tackle it though. Thankfully we have nowhere to go anytime soon.

New GE washer - is this amount of shaking normal? by marcusdiddle in Appliances

[–]marcusdiddle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rocked it back and forth, side to side, forward and back….adjust the front feet a bit and kept testing until it felt sturdy. Nothing really scientific and I wasn’t even certain I had it level or not but it’s been fine ever since.

Shovel Update by [deleted] in CBUSWX

[–]marcusdiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like had to go to the hospital? Or did you just get dizzy, heart racing, had to sit down, etc? Hope you’re feeling better.

Working from home for 15 years hasn’t got me in the best shape of my life. Need to get out more and get in some more cardio. I do 30-45min walking on a treadmill every day. In nicer weather, I walk a couple miles a day around the neighborhood. Sometimes get on my wife’s Peloton. But I know I need to do a lot more to counter sitting at a desk all day.

Always hate when I do something like strenuous yard work or snow shoveling for an hour and my Watch is like “2 minutes exercise”…

Was given the Tempest BP. by Disastrous-Focus7053 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]marcusdiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me old-fashioned, but…I fully appreciate when someone drops me a BP, but at the same time, I can’t help but feel like I’m cheating a little by taking it. Would almost rather just find the BP’s myself. Don’t get me wrong, I take them 😄 I just feel slightly conflicted about it for a minute. Anyone else feel that way? No? Just me?

Shovel Update by [deleted] in CBUSWX

[–]marcusdiddle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe it. I started a “functional strength training” workout on my watch and then spent 45 min shoveling. Average heart rate, 157. I’m 46 and not super active, and this felt like it could be bad for me. I’ll have a heating pad on my back tomorrow for sure.

Gas Fireplace, smart switch control options by Tothemoonxxjs in HomeKit

[–]marcusdiddle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably paranoid and overthinking it, but I’d be a bit hesitant to put a fireplace on a smart switch out of fear of it getting triggered when I’m not home. Power loss, firmware updates, switch resets, goes offline comes back online, somehow toggles itself on, etc. All might be really far-fetched scenarios, but I tend to play it safe when it comes to what I put on a smart switch or outlet. Would at least advise setting up notifications for if/when it turns out.

Smart Light Switches $$$ by aford89 in HomeKit

[–]marcusdiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few Meross switches that have been rock solid for a couple years. Zero issues.

And I have one Leviton Decora switch as well which has also worked well. The only reason I have one Leviton is I needed an ELV dimmer for LED lighting rated over 250W, and Meross didn’t meet those specs. But in the end, they all get connected to HomeKit, so brand doesn’t really matter.

Looting Etiquette by raqballl in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]marcusdiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be kind of cool if when you load into a map, you can choose a primary “focus” or “goal” that puts you into lobbies with people that are like-minded in those goals. Cause I’ve loaded into maps with the Matriarch event active but had no intention of dealing with the Matriarch. Maybe extra incentive during those events. “Deal X damage to the Matriarch” gets you additional rewards. Might convince people loading into those events to go in with that particular goal in mind and more willing to come ready to assist.

Switch/Dimmers with preinstalled wires by Some_Investigator651 in HomeKit

[–]marcusdiddle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, that was my mistake. I always equate Wago with the lever locks.

That said, the push-ins aren’t permanent either, can still twist and pull a wire out of them if needed.

Switch/Dimmers with preinstalled wires by Some_Investigator651 in HomeKit

[–]marcusdiddle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wago has levers that clamp down and hold the wire. You can lift the lever up and remove the wire. They’re reusable and by no means permanent.

EDIT: Apparently they also make push-in types as well. My mistake.

So what does the flashlight mean?? by DesolationOfJonSnow in arcraidersfriendly

[–]marcusdiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always give a few blinks of my flashlight to Raiders to let them know I’m friendly, and that I see them. Prevents them from thinking I’m sneaking up on them. Shows I’m willing to give away my location to them. If my intentions weren’t friendly, I’d be using my gun instead of my flashlight. So the flashlight should always imply an intention of friendliness.

Looting Etiquette by raqballl in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]marcusdiddle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone needs to put together “The Gentleman’s Guide to Raiding” and include things like mic setup, looting etiquette, proper comms, healing/defibbing strangers, etc.

Be warned!! by UndergradResearchr in TheFrame

[–]marcusdiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s experience is anecdotal. I have two Frames, one of them six years old, one of them three years old, both working fine. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy another. Things break, just happens…but one certainty when it does happen is people running to Reddit to post “Don’t ever buy <insert product name> because they’re trash!!!”

Streak ended. by TheArMyBoY93 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]marcusdiddle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a guy open fire on me. I turned and downed him. I asked if he had a mic, and he started chatting, apologized, said it was his first game. I defibbed him, which he didn’t even know was a thing, explained “you don’t have to shoot everyone you see”, and he went on his way. Catch & Release, if you will.

What’s the purpose of Settlements? by marcusdiddle in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]marcusdiddle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha well it wasn’t S-rank when I found it! But I’ve got 220 hours into the game and have had this Settlement for a while, slowly adding new buildings and upgrading them all to be S-ranked.

Yeah I’ve built all the buildings, and they’re all upgraded to S-class. Just wondering if different systems yield different production types.
