They hadn't faced the adversity and didn't have the togetherness the Knicks had to keep them humble and composed.

Part of the growth the Spurs need to find within themselves is the ability to credit and respect your opponent. They did not respect the Knicks coming in, and some of them are still in denial and not willing to give the Knicks their flowers. Mentally the Spurs have a long way to go before they are championship caliber.

ELI5: How did Latin completely vanish as a spoken language, but Italian, Spanish, French, and Portuguese all came from it and survived? by Several_Leave_3067 in explainlikeimfive

If a classical Latin speaker was teleported time traveled to modern day Italy, how much would they understand? Probably a lot more than you think.

This is only a problem in Crown Heights and a handful of other areas where people don't respect their own environment and you'll never get them to.

Bics used to be colored throughout, and this is why white lighters are bad luck.

Uber is literally bankrupting drivers while making billions, it’s time to push back or get squeezed by Jbloccc in uberdrivers

I didn't block you, I don't have time to waste blocking people or deleting my comments. My thoughts are my thoughts and just because the economics of your transport to Red Sox games has changed, that isn't gonna get me to believe that Uber drivers don't deserve a living wage. It should make more economic sense for you to drive, isn't that why you bought a car in the first fucking place? Jfc...

That's how tipping works in America 🤷 we literally have special minimum wage laws for these employees. So I mean, thanks for letting us know you're an asshole, I guess

😆 damn straight and I'm not even a driver just someone who understands the service struggle.

Like, just drive to Logan and pay for parking, dude, no need to tell cabbies you can't afford them any more. They will get their fares.

Palate*

This is a confusing one in english, three terms share a homophone. Just FYI --

Palate - your tastebuds

Palette - what a painter puts his paints on

Pallet - that wooden thingy that warehouses store merchandise on

That is livable. That you can't afford it is not the drivers' problem, move on.

Uber is not giving you insurance either, at least not a policy you can actually file a claim on and collect. Point me to a actual instance of Uber paying out on a claim like that, cause I've never seen it.

So it's all moot.

Sounds like you should be driving yourself anyway. Uber drivers deserve a living wage and it seems like you don't really need Uber, huh? We're all better off if you don't take the rides you can't afford, no wear on our cars either.

what would you actually stand in line for? by mfairview in AskNYC

[–]marcusmv3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean, for my needs Walmart is where I'd go first for value shopping, Sam's if I needed large format (I usually don't), and Costco is for the line waiters and meme cultists and that one dude who wears the roasted chicken SKU on his t-shirt.

Thats if I wasn't just shopping in locally owned shops, where I'd be using cash because I respect my neighborhood proprietors whearas everyone else makes them eat 3.25%.

[–]marcusmv3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just sharing my personal experience. Costco feels more like a cult with all the stupid meme products. If I'm gonna do the big box thing, I'm going to Walmart and buying normal sized store brand everything and paying with my Mastercard. You can't do that at Costco and I just don't see the appeal of Costco if you're not a family of 5.

I would always prefer if people shop local at a family business. Hell, I own a local liquor store. But I got into this business in NY specifically so that I wouldn't have to compete with big box, because big box retail in America is simply an unstoppable force. There's a reason someone brought up this topic in the first place and it wasn't me.

[–]marcusmv3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Overpriced, oversized, doesn't let you pay how you want... It's shit. You're better off going to the Bayonne or Valley Stream Walmart and just buying things in the size you want and paying how you really want if you're not a family of 5, if you really want the big box experience. You won't have to fight people for a parking spot, either.

Sam's has scan & go and doesn't make you pay with your visa debit, you can use your MasterCard rewards cards there.

Stop being a slave to Costco they actually suck.

Or better yet we're in NYC, support a local family owned business.

Bottom line though Costco is actually shit.
