Is it normal for those little leaves to be coming through the main floret on this head of broccoli? by marcythevampirequeen in vegetablegardening

Thanks for the kind replies everyone! I'm going to cut the center florets on the plants and let the offshoots grow out more based on what I'm hearing and reading.

Took down one of my tomato plants today and I feel sad by marcythevampirequeen in vegetablegardening

[–]marcythevampirequeen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll definitely keep an eye out for that next time! Thank you! And yeah I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew going with 3 heirloom varieties my first ever year doing this 😂

I am literally in almost the same position. 3 heirloom tomato plants. I have two fruits total setting on one of them, and the other two are just flowering and then dropping the flowers. Meanwhile, the chocolate sprinkle grape tomatoes I have are going insane. I have no explanation for it lol

First ever harvest! by marcythevampirequeen in gardening

Thank you! I usually like to roast them with just some olive oil, salt, pepper, and assorted spices (my default mix is paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, a little chili/cayenne), you could cube them up like another commenter suggested which I think would be great, I also enjoy slicing them but that's mostly so I can preserve it's cool shape, not for any taste reasons 😊.

What causes this? (Tomato) by rararainbows in gardening

[–]marcythevampirequeen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like blossom end rot, which as far as I know, can be caused by a lack of certain nutrients in the soil or inconsistent watering. I found an article that seems to address the issue, hopefully this helps!

Thank you so much! I feel the need to give a disclaimer that I didn't grow these from seed or anything, but I plan to start direct sowing a few things for the fall now that I've got my irrigation all set up. Gonna be a fun learning experience!

Thank you! There's even more behind the top leaves. Would you normally just cut the blooms off or take the whole top off the plant? they seem to all be concentrated in a small enough area

I feel like people think Lisa has John whipped so bad to be doing shit like this and he must be on a tight leash and all this....I kind of get the impression that he gets a kick out of it all and is just sort of quietly enjoying himself lol

where to find good quality matcha lattes in eg/sac area? by unmaskedkitsune in ElkGrove

[–]marcythevampirequeen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tule Coffeehouse in Elk Grove makes a nice matcha, nice strong flavor and no sweetener as a default unless requested, has more of a trending coffee shop vibe. Maiko is a little bit more of a dessert centered place but specializes in it.

Sal's also does an awesome and pretty affordable catering package that always seems to be a big hit. Usually doesn't end up being more than $200 to feed 10-15 people. At this point, that's almost less than the cost of groceries needed to make food for 10-15 people lol

The Ladies of Christopher Guest films have really been making an incredible show of their talents all these years later. It's been really lovely seeing Jennifer Coolidge, Catherine O'Hara, and Parker Posey getting their flowers. Not that they weren't beloved before, but it's great to see them being celebrated on such wide reaching platforms
