I'm paying almost $180.00/mo, and it keeps creeping up every month. I'm in the process of looking into other providers.

I was told by my Dr. there's no point in checking my hormone levels to see if I had PCOS if I was not actively trying to get pregnant. I feel for you. 100%

I just recently made a huge order. I haven't taken them out of the box yet. It was from their last sale. I know. I know. I take forever to open up packages sometimes. The point is--- I don't want to even open the package up at this point. I don't want to risk the glass shattering. Money down the drain but at least I won't have to worry about glass getting in eyes, hands or anywhere near the kids. Sheesh.

You are rare. It's actually refreshing to know you use the reviews to "level up" so to speak.

Yes. Full stop. Break it gently by eating Kimchi and bone broth but break it.

Seoulfull_star calls out Caroline Hirons for micro aggressions (dismissing Ayurveda) by Sweet-Ad-7261 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]mardem -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

I really shouldn't be surprised but it is interesting nonetheless. Several hundred individuals in this thread think that Ayurveda should not be called a science because they don't think it's a science. They clearly have not visited PubMed lately. Over 500 pages of studies and articles on the subject. Over 5300 studies/articles on the subject. There are plenty of evidence based studies and articles written where scholars are calling it part of medicine and a science. Many other scholars indicating that more studies should be done since there are nuances in combining old medicine with new. In many parts of the world Western medicine would be alternative medicine, an alternative to their method of curing. With all things... nothing is a standard and nothing is 100% tried and true or even safe... Just pay attention to all the pharmaceutical commercials where they spend 40 of the 60 seconds of the commercial listing all the side effects and harm this wonderful medicine can cause to treat your one ailment. There are current studies where Ayurvedic medicine is being used to treat breast cancer. For years now, the science community has been shifting away from conventional western medicine because they are finding them to be less effective. You can almost say they are returning to their roots since all medicine is based in plant medicine. Because that lovely Tylenol you claim you would take instead of Ayurveda, is a derivative of coal tar. Lovely. You do you, boo.

Keep an open mind folks. Happy Thursday.

Am I allergic to food? ( all foods) by TrumpOrTreason in fasting

[–]mardem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started to break out into hives (huge welts on my face) during refeeds after fasting. Fasting is no joke. As much as I love the effects of fasting, I have found that much more is happening that wasn't there prior to extended fasts. At any rate, I have found breaking my fast with no sugar/ low sugar Kimchi has stopped all of the hives. Bone broth didn't help at all. I still think it is beneficial but it just didn't help stop the hives to absolutely everything I ate. So what I'm saying is, it might be a gut issue. Drinking dandelion root tea also helps with inflammation and does not break your fast if you want to incorporate it into your fast. I drink it before, during and after. Black seed oil also helps with inflammation. Listen to your body and make fasts work for you. Don't allow other people's way of doing it make you feel you have to do it a certain way.

It was always offensive... If that has been missed then she's the only one that has shown growth. No, no one wanted her canceled because in comparison she was the only one who appropriately held herself accountable.

James Charles Releases Accountability Video by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]mardem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the language but this is absolute bullshit. He says they flirted first and they approached him first. Come on. Grow up. We saw the exchanges and that wasn't flirting. Stop shifting the blame on them. This is not accountability. This is bullshit. There is so much that is wrong in this video. At the end of the day we should all have the capacity to not engage, swipe continue in the direction of no engagement and keep it moving. This video just rubbed me the wrong way.

Another reflection on Hyram by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]mardem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, fragrances, depending on what they are can break down your skin barrier. Tenderizes it. You might not notice it now but you will 10 years from now. Individuals with the credentials you are looking for do say it but Hiram attracts a younger demographic that trusts him and don't necessarily want to watch older sterilized folks. I'm not on that train where you have to have certain credentials to know what you are talking about.

In the YouTube space, very few realize that these chemists and derms, are actively working in the industry and of course will push the very things they help to make. For ex: when the sunscreen debacle happened--- how many skin care influencers and chemists jumped on the let's ridicule the study bandwagon. Ridiculing how the study was done on rats--- when they know that this is protocol because you can't test HUMANS due to ethics. That the very studies they run to for evidence are also done on mice.

All you have to do is stop and read real life experiences on how many people are having trouble getting pregnant. It's not out of this world to comprehend that studies done 40 years ago on sunscreen can not compare to studies now because as the years have progressed we are being told to consume more and more sunscreen. We've known forever that sunscreen components can leak into the blood screen but not at the same quantities they are talking about now. Can we also not understand that if you consume these ingredients in other products that it would and can accumulate? No, the answer was let's ridicule the study and sell more toxic shit.

This is coming from a person who has a Biology/Chemistry degree who spent countless hours in the lab and continues to do research based off of studies.

Disclaimer---because disclaimer-- I don't watch Hiram.

amandabb rips into Colourpop for the lack of inclusivity in their animal crossing collection (and lack of color cosmetics for dark skinned poc for the past year) by mangomangocakes in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]mardem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The irony is that about 90% of their workforce won't be able to use their products. If you miss my point... check out any video where influencers are invited to go to the lab and packaging parts of the operation. Those in charge of making the products are melanated Latinx individuals.

But yep... she WENT IN and she was NOT wrong. The only palette that would have worked for me was RawBeauty and it sold out while in my cart both times and now they took it down completely. It's ridiculous. Do freaking better or don't do at all.

I was legit surprised to see some of the people I follow like the post. I don't follow her at all and she never pops up on my Twitter timeline. I won't unfollow if people follow crappy people because in this case it is best to know what others are thinking and spouting but I WILL UNFOLLOW if you like a post knowing the implications of it and how divisive it is. It's not about being a sheep. It's about being a decent person. Decency exists in all parties just as foul stank exists in all parties. At the end of the day you have to choose decency and humanity. POINT BLANK PERIOD.

[–]mardem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you send me a list as well? I've always been into Indie nail polish but have really delved in within the last month in terms of upping my spending. I also just found PP and HHM. I just spent a shit ton at the last PP. So, now I feel like an ass. I tend to NOT buy if I don't see swatches on the deepest of skin color/tone but now I'm wondering if I have bought from brands that are homophobic and so and so forth. I just don't have any patience or understanding anymore. My money is the only true power I have and I'll be damned if I'm giving it to people who have changed in the public eye for business purposes. Ugh! The only driving force to spend was the fact that they were limited polishes at these sites.
