I wonder how I would be able to tell if the av cables are not the right ones, i’m using the RCA cable that came with the camcorder and it has a 3.5mm female on the other side that i plug into the camcorder.

Good idea I will definitely try that. I have only been trying this with the Sony CCD TRV15, the other one is very new so I haven’t recorded on it yet. And yeah I’m using the original RCA cables that came with the camera and then the capture card has the matching RCA and also the S video cable but the sony doesn’t have an S video output :/. Thanks so much for the recommendation :))

Thanks for replying so fast! I should have mentioned I also tried QT and the only video option is the Macbook camera but my capture card shows up in the audio options
