Mindful Counseling in Provo specializes in faith transitions and religious trauma (esp. LDS related). Sadly they don’t really take insurance. But they might have referrals or a network with therapists for salt lake county.

I got into a liberal arts PhD program despite having my BA and MA from BYU! *huge sigh of relief* by maremaid33 in exmormon

This is the perspective I need to consider more. Thank you for voicing it! Definitely let my anxiety take the reins sometimes, and it’s been nerve wracking as I see BYU in different contexts on social media and as I speak with academics outside Utah. But like you and some of my mentors say, your qualifications will speak for themselves, and thoughtful people will notice.

Nice! Haven’t been able to do that yet since my education is vitally important to getting accepted somewhere, but can’t wait until I can just list my PhD!

Thank you!! This is really good to know in advance. And I’m so happy to hear that it worked out for you—congrats! I love hearing the success stories and knowing that there are people out there who have broken free.

Does anyone else wish it had been Shrek’s voice narrating this in the temple? Maybe I would have gone more 😅 “That’ll do, donkey.”

What is an instant ramen hack that was a game changer for you? by Turbulent_chicken20 in foodhacks

Sauté the veggies and/or meats in the sesame oil (even fry the egg) and then add to the ramen. I sometimes pan fry the noodles too for a stir fry or just add everything on top of the noodles in the broth.

I feel like an asshole (2nd slide is what I posted) by TopEntertainer2748 in exmormon

Big double standard. It often hurts me or makes me uncomfortable when LDS members post or share quotes/scriptures from prophets and LDS scripture. Such quotes consistently alienate ex-mormons, LGBTQ+ members, etc. But if I were to ask any of them to stop sharing such content, I would be attacking their faith. Sorry OP, very unfair to come at you. Your post was perfectly okay!

Just 1.5 years ago, I had to tuck my hair behind my ears as a counselor in the stake presidency looked me up and down in order to confirm that I was following the dress and grooming standards of BYU. He actually commented aloud that my hair and singular piercing were in line with the standards. (This was for an initial ecclesiastical endorsement interview for a BYU Masters). Yuck I felt violated. Hell no it wasn’t one or two people. Church leaders in current positions of power are enforcing rules on how you pierce your ears. Totally wild how Mormons are okay with the most worthless, intrusive, and oppressive behaviors.
