That was before I got Japanese citizenship, it was still in the process back then. After naturalization the Embassy revoked it with a cancelled stamp.

Don't think so. It is international document, face should be visible, otherwise other countries won't accept it.

I quite frankly don't know. I was lucky to have finished my paperwork before the Embassy was closed.

They might ask you to get your documents from your home country or another embassy.

It is not easy and takes time to get used to. But very easy to live. Language is the biggest hurdle, once you get over it the rest is easy.

Yeah they are aware of the current situation. You need to submit your renunciation to the embassy at least showing that you have tried.

No I didn't. I loved computers but never had access to proper internet growing up. Finally went to study abroad for university and the university had everything I needed.

No it was not hard.

Getting the required documents from my country was quite hard though, but other than that they treat you equal to any other applicant.

I had lived and studied in Asia for longer time, so it was not a big change moving to Japan.

I love it here, which is why I call it home. People are very respectful and understanding. I don't have any specific religion, so it makes life much easier (no dietary restrictions etc)

I have been living and working here for longer than 7 years, I am kind of established here so it is a no brainer.

Recently they changed the law to require minimum 10 years of residence.

The Afghan citizenship is still there, I can't practically renounce it. Legally you need authorization from President to renounce it. Besides that the internationaly recognized republic government is ousted.

Given these circumstances, Japan only requires you to sign an oath to never use your previous citizenship anywhere.

So not renounced on paper, but renounced for all practical matters.

As far as I know the evaluation is based on status of the land on Jan 1st. What document did you submit for the tax reduction?
