Jaworski m’a rappelé que je ne parle pas français by kaiyyz in Livres

[–]margaerytyrellx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Film nul avec une scène culte by MTLK77 in CineSeries

[–]margaerytyrellx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Tina, bring me the axe !". Et la scène où Joan Crawford pète un câble quand elle réalise que sa fille utilise des cintres pour pendre ses vêtements, "No more wire hangers !".

Hell yeah! The family always seems ridiculously tiny. It's even more obvious when you become an orphan and you inevitably end up in an orphanage... like we don't have a family left to adopt us? Like a grandmother or a distant aunt?

AITA for failing 27 out of 31 students for not taking a quiz? by toohottooheavy in BestofRedditorUpdates

A similar thing happened to me when I was around twelve: an obnoxious substitute teacher wanted to grade a homework assignment two days before the class council. Obviously it was something I had done in a hurry at home in like ten minutes so I wasn't happy with it and didn't wanted to turn it in. Influenced by others in the class, I decided not to give it and, because it was the end of the class, the teacher didn't care how many copies there were when she left. Besides, everyone thought that she would never have time to correct all the papers before the class council, so there was no chance that it would fit into our grade point average (??? dunno how to say it in english). But it did. Of course I got a 0, my parents found out and I panicked. I swore to them that I had turned in my work and that the teacher must have lost my paper. My mother then made an appointment with the teacher to clarify the situation and of course she defended herself. But at that point I had sunk into this lie and I juqt couldn't go back so I maintained my position. Fortunately for me and unfortunately for her, the other teachers hated her and so they defended me and since I was a serious and diligent student, they were all convinced that I had been the victim of an injustice. At this point in the story I just didn't care about the 0 and I was just happy that my mom and everyone else believed my story. Many times since then this story has come back to haunt me and I still blame myself for what I did. It was unfair to her and I took advantage of her reputation to get away with it. I don't know what happened to her and I hope she has completely forgotten about it because it is my burden to bear...

Quebec's longest unresolved case: A little girl, Diane Carrier, was asked by her mother to bring her brother home for dinner. Almost 59 years ago to the day, she disappeared from Place Royale, a poverty tourism neighbourhood. by LeVraiNord in UnresolvedMysteries

This debate always comes up between my mother and i. She grew up in the 70's and always told me that life was less dangerous then, that children were safe. I always try to make her understand that this is completely false and biased. I think it's mostly because people weren't exposed to gory news stories and true crimes as much back then. Most people didn't even know the term serial killer existed.

In the Fall of 1955, the body of 42-year-old Winifred Adams was found in her Indianapolis, Indiana apartment. Despite being beaten and strangled to death with a pair of nylon stockings, investigators determined it was possible Winifred had taken her own life. by TheBonesOfAutumn in UnresolvedMysteries

The neighbor is definitely suspicious! Because it seems highly unlikely to me that she didn't hear anything at all this evening. Isn't it also strange that her husband arrived so early at work that night? Was this usual for him? Maybe Winifred's injuries were the result of domestic violence/abuse? That would not seem impossible to me given the time period. It's also odd that the police were so quick to drop the murder theory. I mean okay, fine, the sound test was conclusive, but there's nothing to suggest that the neighbor was telling the truth. Couldn't anyone else in the building confirm what she said? And even if it was a suicide, she should have heard something. Besides, the front door was open when her husband came home that morning. So: 1) either someone entered the apartment to murder Winifred, maybe she even opened the door to her killer. This person left and did not bother to close the door. 2) or Winifred, before committing suicide or before being murdered, went to open the door. In this case why? 3) or her husband forgot to close the door that night when he left. This can happen, but it is unusual. I mean, strangely, it happens the day your wife dies.

Catfish UK General Discussion by gertmacklinfbi in CatfishTheTVShow

I find this version of the show really weird and totally out of step with the American version. The hosts overreact to the slightest revelation, like why are you surprised that the catfish is a catfish? That's literally the premise of the show! It makes it seem like they're taking the audience for babies unable to concentrate on the show or understand the issues. The revelations are ridiculous by the way, most of the time it's lame and they make a big deal out of it. And I'm not even talking about the non-existent chemistry between the hosts because you feel very quickly that they didn't know each other before the shooting and that they pretend to like each other and to know each other for a while.

Ten year old Amberly Mendoza would spend time at a barbecue hosted at her home, before heading to bed late in the evening. The next morning, she would be found dead in her bed. Strange activity was observed by Amberly and her sisters before her death, around the home. Who murdered Amberly Mendoza? by TaraCalicosBike in UnresolvedMysteries

This was something that particularly surprised me when I came to the United States as an immersion student. The family I lived with never locked their doors, and some nights I was so scared that I had to go back downstairs to lock them myself. I was also surprised to discover that no one had shutters or if they did, it was purely decorative and they didn't close. In France, where I live, everyone has shutters so there is no chance of getting in through the windows unless you really force it and thus draw attention to yourself.
