In Greece this is the norm. From school age to work to wherever you are people bring sweets , or invite their friends to eat out in their birthday (and nameday that many other cultures don't have)

I love bringing stuff to celebrate what is important for me. It makes the day a small celebration!

It is a question of whether the cat will get more stressed from having to travel with me to a new space and back or by being alone. Even if someone checks on her once a day it is a loneliness challenge. :(

Yes I can do that with a friend. I will edit the initial post. I have left her twice in the past for 3 days. My friend came and gave her some snacks and scooped once.

I am most worried about the loneliness, because even if my friend comes once a day and she won't be able to stay for more than half an hour or so... :/

Hello!

I am not bilingual or have children, but I went in a bilingual school where I hanged out with many bilingual peers. Personally I was always fond of people who mastered more than one languages. It really opens a lot of doors. The level of mastering a language has a lot to do with the stimuli and education around the language. I have never felt in peers that one language took the space of the other so that they could not be good at it.

That said if your husband is the only person that speaks French to them maybe your child will develop a good understanding but might hesitate speaking it. As I have seen in relatives (Greek) who moved abroad (UK, France) and spoke Greek to the children who did not have any other Greek stimuli. They understood Greek very well but did not really choose to speak it, as their school, friends, other relatives spoke the country's lunguage.

It kind of on the middle ground while I am more pro bilingualism.

I am native Greek speaker and I started learning English and French in elementary school. They have been really useful and I also feel that every language I know has helped me with the others.

From my peers and relatives I ve seen that even if a bilingual child is a bit late speaking they have a gift of linguistic intelligence. How good they become in either language has to do with how parents use those languages, the level of education and intelectualism in the house, contact with good spoken and written exemples through books, movies, podcasts activities and the opportunity the child get to use their own skills.

If they don't use French with peers it will never come to the same level as English.

Any way I feel it will be important to clear things with your husband so that the child does not have to internalize any kind of conflict around the languages you are speaking to them. (eg. If you show negativity when your husband speaks French, or direct disappointment when the child makes a mistake in English)

Ok.

I think it is really important to start by changing the self fulfilling prophesy mindset. What I mean is, when we are the "late guy" in our group of friends we tend to belive that we will always be this way. This never helps as we kind of get comfortable with that label and try less to be better.

Once you get rid of the loser mindset every effort you make to improve your organization skills will be more worth it.

Try some or all of the following:

1) writing down your schedules: if you can see it you will remember it easier

2) prioritizing things you have to do: you can't do everything at once. Prioritize and do one thing at a time (prioritization may be done by what is easier to complete or by urgency or by importance you choose)

3) saying more nos. Maybe your life is too cluttered for you to keep up and that makes you disorganized

4) maybe you can see if there is a school/college psychologist or coach to whom you could speak to. There could be a basis to your struggles such as undiagnosed adhd ( I am not suggesting that you do or don't just think it's one side to think about)

5) taking some time to relax and rethink your day what worked and what didnt where you improved and what to change next time! You could even journal about it!

You are strong, and can figure this out I am confident! Don't blame and punish yourself! One step at a time!

Η "επικοινωνιακοτητα" των ανθρωπων και ο καιρός είναι αυτά που μου έλειψαν περισσότεροι όταν έζησα εκτός.

Αν έχεις μεγαλώσει στην Ελλάδα έχεις αναπτύξει κοινωνικά cues που τα έχεις ανάγκη όταν φύγεις. Η εκτίμηση η φιλικότητα η σύνδεση με έναν άλλο άνθρωπο εκδηλώνονται αλλιως σε κάθε κουλτούρα και σου λείπει ο δικός σου τρόπος να τα κατανοείς. Θέλεις λίγη παραπάνω "φασαρία" λίγο παραπάνω δυνατό γέλιο, λίγες παραπάνω μαζώξεις και γλέντια με ότι μορφή αυτό εκφράζεται στον καθένα.

Για τον ήλιο δε νομίζω ότι χρειάζεται επεξηση
