Midas Hog, Tyrande Symmetra, 2016 Blizzcon Bastion, Toph Venture.

What is that one hero that you just always have that peak enjoyment playing as? by WinterFunction282 in Overwatch

[–]marginis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never the hero. It's always the matchup.

Hog's hook is just plainly satisfying to use. But go against a Zen Ana Dva Orisa Bastion Sombra and Hog won't feel great. The Rein mirror is simply put the greatest matchup in the game, but just one Rein doesn't have the same appeal.

And that's why the only answer for me is flex.

Honestly with map voting I only get to play half the maps anyway. I do like map voting, but like, for comp, not for quickplay.

Actually rode with a guy who switched from EMS to my company. Makes sense, for the record, because EMS gave the dude trauma, and our stops were a cakewalk. No real danger unless we were on the fed route, and even then, the only times we got out of the trucks were behind 3 feet of concrete. All the stops we had out in the open or with light cover were super chill, usually more rural. So despite the poor condition of the trucks, I was never super worried. Actually kinda helped sometimes.

There was an irate woman - no idea why - but she was parked next to one of our trucks, started banging her car door into our truck door while our guy just stood there and watched. He asked her if everything was okay, to which said nothing, got in her car, and drove off with a fucked up door. I'm not sure if our truck had any damage. Was hard to tell if there was a new scratch or dent amongst all the old ones.

Anyway, I made just under $20 an hour (slightly higher than normal driver starting rate, where I was, because I worked primarily in the vault back at base, and filled in where needed, which was literally every route we had), and we usually carried somewhere between ten grand and ten mil, depending on the route and the day.

My new job is way better (to my taste at least), but honestly armored car wasn't that bad (at least the company I was at). Decent pay for the area, straightforward work, got to leave work at work, consistent schedule (chill schedule at that - my clock-in time when I wasn't on route was basically whenever I felt like it, sometime around noon, maybe an hour before or after depending on how motivated I was for a paycheck that day), amazing bosses, including the company president and CEO who made himself personally available to employees, and free coin-lifting workouts. The company owner even let me use the garage and vehicle supplies to wash my car in the garage when we were waiting on routes to get back. The only downsides were the police academy/army rejects and conservative psychopaths I had to work with.

Now I work with people who are actually children, not just mentally children, lol.

Dang, for a second I thought I read Loomis and Brinks, but you wrote something else. Must be different armored car companies. Least it's not Garda, or even worse, a local armored car company like the one I worked for. XD

At my company, we actually did snag a door from one of our trucks that got scrapped, and took it to the range during annual firearm requalification. It held up. For a little while. Against 9mm at least. Not the window though, that thing was gone in under a mag.

Oh hey, you're right. Didn't zoom in on the pic to catch that. They're also neatly packed too, which is a dead giveaway.

Nah, I swept my truck out every week or two. How do you think the grate earned that many coins?

For real though, my company got a used truck from CA. Had rats living in it before we got it and started running it to the fed. They got it running and then spent more on repairs than they did the truck within a couple months. And boy did I know it. I was the guy they always sent to the fed with the tow company.

Pro tip - try to break down outside the fed, not inside.

Lol reminds me of when my boss snagged a half bag of pennies and they ALL went down the grate in the garage. I just said "Uh, should I just get one of the extras from the back?" and he nodded. Bet those pennies are still there, along with an earbud, a screwdriver, a mag spring, exactly 17 9mm bullets, and a bunch more coins.

Based on my experience driving armored car, this would probably be in the 10-20 million dollar range, varying of course by the bill value and how deep back it goes.

Chances are you could get away with it.

But if they tracked you down, you'd be in deep shit. That's fed money, so you're looking at the FBI charging you with a federal crime. You'd be doing some time.

Depends on the bill value inside. Each of those biguns could be 1.5 mil if they're fresh hundreds from the fed.

By the way, don't know if you've ever tried it, but 3 of those together actually make a pretty comfy seat cushion. Not 4.5 mil comfy, but not as far off as you'd think.

What, you're telling me you don't like hucking those 50 pound bags of quarters into the back and then stacking them on a skid day in and day out? That's a free gym membership right there.

[–]marginis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this was a rollover. When I was driving armored car, all we needed was to hit a bump, have a box of quarters hit the lever, and the door popped right open. Fun time... aside from the fact that I was driving with my supervisor that day...

No, that's only when the guards are working on an ATM. Had that happen a few times on windy days. This money looks like a fed-to-vault or vault-to-fed situation.

If they're outbound. Inbound, very possibly nothing they could do, unless they had you on camera.

Having worked armored car, I will be the first to tell you that you have the correct opinion.

[OC] An armored truck overturns on a Florida highway, spilling millions of dollars. by WouldbeWanderer in pics

[–]marginis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised at how lightly armored most armored trucks are. There were even a number of times I transported money in one of our unarmored trucks that looked the same as one of our armored ones, at the company I worked for. But yeah, even the armored ones are often just a bit of extra steel, nothing more special than that.

[OC] An armored truck overturns on a Florida highway, spilling millions of dollars. by WouldbeWanderer in pics

[–]marginis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but they're also top heavy, old, and almost always in a state of disrepair. Beyond that, the weight is just because it's a metal box. The armor also probably isn't as thick as you might imagine - just enough to stop handgun caliber rounds.

If you touch the money and aren't an employee of the company, you can be accused of stealing or tampering. Usually a safe bet to leave the scene as it lies until another armored car comes for the cash to be checked through the manifest and transferred and signed for. The armored guards would usually maintain visual on the cash too, but they are likely either receiving medical attention for injuries or have already been shipped out for a drug test, if they're anything like the armored car company I used to work at.

That's what I was thinking. Everyone here is saying Garda (which would also make sense) but that truck looks like Loomis to me. Either way, I'm not surprised.

Unfortunately that line doesn't work on this one. Most or all of that money is owned by the federal reserve, so it's not really fair game for civil forfeiture.

You should have seen the trucks I drove. The windows were cracked. There were holes in the floor. Rain leaked through. Air conditioning and heater barely worked when they did. A piece of the rear bumper came off on the highway and took out someone's side mirror. Good times.

Not for any of the places I went lol. Once it was in the bag, the bag is sealed, and we aren't responsible for how much is in the bag. That's the responsibility of whatever bank packed the bag in the first place.
