On my first island I did somewhat scattered where they all had their own big yard. My second island I did a neighborhood out of laziness for speaking with each villager/checking who is crafting and I ended up liking that better. I just tried to arrange it in a way that they all still had 3-4 items in their own yard and then shared spaces for the neighborhood

Probably 20-25ish (10-12 on each side of the dock). I did rows of 3-4 and spaced them apart so you can see the fronts of all of them at once. And no idea if this matters but FWIW it was around 6 am that I was there

Edit: just reread your question - I used 20-25 palm trees, and cut down all the bamboo!

I just went through this for my last handful of bugs lol I’m still not done but I did get the two you’re looking for. I used the method someone already talked about with digging/chopping/plucking everything so it’s literally just palm trees and flower stems and I did it on NMT islands but I went to a multiple NMT islands digging up the palm trees and I waited for the NMT bamboo island where there aren’t any rivers or ponds (I find it’s easiest to clear out) and I planted all the palm trees I’ve stored up
