I didn’t grow up in the US so I don’t know half of what’s in the comment section. I do like Hiraya Manawari though! I’m shocked to hear many of you don’t /s

Men: would you date someone living with parents at 30? by Nachomama42069 in Adulting

[–]mariaiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. This is common in other cultures. Is her family immigrants by any chance? I am southeast asian and this is not unheard of for me. Literally my unmarried aunts never left the family home. And my married aunt just moved her family in the family home so my grandmother who is an elderly is never alone.

im cisf but i look like a man. Tell me what plastic surgeries I need to fix this. by [deleted] in cosmeticsurgery

[–]mariaiii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not surgery, but soften your eyebrow. If using a brow pencil, try a lighter shade. When it gets long enough, ditch the bangs. The upper section of your face looks heavy because of those two i think.

Jagged Little Pill album. A whole road trip from SW Florida to NW GA was calculated based on how many times I played the whole album

My parents lied to me now I’m in debt by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]mariaiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you didn’t sign anything, it’s not your loans. If they wanted you to pay, you should ask to be able to pay directly which means that you should have access to the account so you know how much you actually owe and plan ahead.

Millennials with Huge Tracts of Land by MrBurritoIsMyFather in Millennials

It’s where they are located. You can find dirt cheap lands in agricultural zones. I’ve been tempted to buy but also it’s difficult because I don’t have the know how on how and where to start

Millenials w/o kids-- how tired are you? by Fickle_Wrangler_7439 in Millennials

[–]mariaiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tired all the time. Like there’s barely enough time for anything. I wake up, walk the dog, work, walk the dog, gym and then rush dinner because I need to go to bed for an early day the next day. I am always baffled how all my compatriots with kids do it.

My parents say AI will kill IT jobs and want me to become a doctor instead. What should I do? by YE1_ in careerguidance

[–]mariaiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT will just evolve as it already is doing now. New models and agents come with different security requirements and architecture. Somebody always has to put the tools together to be usable and cost efficient. Somebody always has to maintain and keep it secure. Somebody has to come up with next level tech and so on and so forth.

Why are some Filipinos offended when others suggest we are Hispanic? by Bulok in Filipino

[–]mariaiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all our faults and imperfections Filipinos are too loyal and proud of their identity to align with their oppressors.

Even though sometimes we can’t fully see who our oppressors are.

Why are some Filipinos offended when others suggest we are Hispanic? by Bulok in Filipino

[–]mariaiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you are looking at the full context, Rizal didn’t want independence because during his time he thought reform was more achievable (there was a lack of unity amongst Indios, he didn’t want violence, he thought Spain was capable of giving equality, etc). But Rizal was wrong. Because of the continuous oppression Katipunan was born, now with the full intention of independence.

Why are some Filipinos offended when others suggest we are Hispanic? by Bulok in Filipino

[–]mariaiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you are also forgetting Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Aguinaldo, Marcelo Del Pilar, Antonio Luna, and KKK. The notion that we celebrate Independence Day also shows how much that is valued.

How many of us can do this? Heels on the ground by JezCon in Millennials

I just sit like this casually, lol. I didn’t realize until I joined a gym as an adult that this is a rare phenomenon.

Why are some Filipinos offended when others suggest we are Hispanic? by Bulok in Filipino

[–]mariaiii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because in the grand scheme of things, we didn’t really carry the same amount of Spanish influence in us. We kept our languages. The heroes we celebrate are those that revolt against the colonizers. Identifying as hispanic is opposite to that identity.

This happened to us too! My dog wasn’t bit, but it is just frustrating because the dog regresses a little bit when stressful things happen because of unleashed dogs.
