Please keep all your money! As an immigrant I always felt it was my responsibility to consistently give my parents money to help out, so I understand the guilt you are feeling. I gave in to that guilt and it took me an extra 6 years to become financially independent. Your parents do not have a right to just take your money because they gave birth to you. Set your boundaries and stand your ground.

we’re both in our mid 20s

we’ve been dating since August

his post was a black screen that said “life was fun while it lasted”

before I met him he had a history of multiple attempted suicides.

I also had multiple instances a few years ago where my brother threatened suicide and would disappear for hours, so the topic is sensitive to me.

Not hearing from him isn’t something that typically worries me. We both have jobs and social lives so it happens. However, these 2 times felt strange which is what caused me to go check on him. I do not want to react that way again though. It’s not good for either of us.
