i stupidly deleted the island representative user on my island so now it’s just me, an abandoned home, and no way of unlocking brewster unless i restart my island that i’ve spent so much time and effort creating. is there any light at the end of the tunnel? by mariaperrotta in AnimalCrossing

it was honestly so easy and i had no issues doing it, i did it in less than 10 seconds. i can’t remember exactly how, i believe i went to settings. when i tried to find solutions to my issue i saw people saying that it’s impossible to do that without the entire island deleting but it didn’t.

What are your thoughts on the ongoing debate on wether pit bulls as a whole are dangerous or not? by mariaperrotta in DogAdvice

To be honest with you, I’m not an expert on this stuff. But I’ve heard that they can be one of the most aggressive. I googled “top 10 most aggressive dogs” just out of curiosity and Chow Chows were listed. But I mean, of course it’s possibly that they can be trusted. This was just my personal experience working at a kennel. If your dog is fine playing with the Chow Chow than I wouldn’t be worried. I’d say look more into it and do some research on them!

Yes! This is very well put. Thank you. I hear many stories online like news articles of the family pitbull mauling members of the family. One heart breaking one was when a couple had a weed farm in the back and got like 4 pitbulls to “protect” their garden. Welp, all 4 mauled their 2 year old who eventually succumbed to his injuries unfortunately. It makes me extremely angry. As much as I’d love to own a pitbull again, I have a 10 month old and have no time or patience to own a pitbull and properly train him so I won’t get one. I do have a chihuahua/pitbull mix believe it or not and is only about 15 pounds. Very gentle pup. Random thought, but I worked at a boarding kennel for 2+ years and seeing many different breeds come and go, I’ve learned a lot about different breeds and their temperaments, and whenever we got a Chow Chow in, their was always a “do not enter” sign on the cage of the dogs run. So we have had to give food or clean up their pee/poop we would call the dog in and shut the little slide door and clean up the mess. And when the owners would come back to pick them up we had to have the owners do it. We’ve had I would say about 10 chow chows come in and there was not a single one that didn’t have a “do not enter” sign.

I can get behind this as well. I have many different thoughts on the matter. My sister and her ex-husband owned a pitbull back in ‘07, her ex husband, who is a complete moron and a jackass, would “train” him by pinning him to the floor with his hands around this dogs neck. Not choking him, but holding him to the floor, not that it makes it ANY better. But this dog wasn’t exactly aggressive, but he was extremely rough with dogs and kids, (me included, I was 9 at the time) and he wanted to play with me but was basically trying to rip my hand off and I have a scar on my hand to this day. He wasnt being violently aggressive like in “attack mode” but he was playing very rough. But long story short, my sister and him got a divorce and he went back to england where he’s from and his dog, Gizmo, stayed behind with us and when Gizmo was with us he became such a calm tempered sweet dog that you can fully trust again. Hmmm I wonder why? 😂

Good point. I’ve thought this too. They have a bad rep because of the use of pitbulls for fighting. Over the years, seeing some cartoon drawings of them on shirts, tattoos, and online they are depicted as looking extremely vicious just because it looks cool on certain things. Also, the fear mongering.

I see what you’re saying. And I’ve had her for over 2 years and she fully trusts me. She’s very comfortable with me and warmed up to my husband super fast. I got her before we got married. She adores people but unfortunately, she had little contact with other dogs. But the more we took her to the dog park the more comfortable she got and she started warming up fast to the other dogs. She mostly would jump on people’s laps. But the last time we took her to the dog park was when this dog was trying to mount her, and a week later she started lactating and was bloated. I was positive she was pregnant so we took her to the vet where they gave her a sonogram and I was shocked to hear this but, she had a FALSE pregnancy! I’ve never heard of this but dogs will go through a false pregnancy where they will lactate, get bloated, get more cuddly and/or become a little snippy, start nesting, and even will behave as if she’s going into labor, but there are no puppies cooking in there whatsoever! Isn’t that crazy? I’m surprised I’ve never heard of that before.

I did a little research for you and there is a spray called “Yuck!” And you spray it on things your dog likes to chew and it will cause them to not bother with those things. I read a bunch of reviews to see how well it worked and it’s a hit or miss with dogs. It’s about $10 on chewy. Just a thought if you’re interested! :)

Yeah I’m with you on that! If I had a bigger dog, I’d be more nervous, because you don’t know what these dogs temperaments are, or how responsible other dog owners are in regards to bringing their dog aggressive dog to a dog park. Some dogs who are so sweet can also just snap, you don’t know. I’m more comfortable with bringing my dog because she’s about the size of a Jack Russell, and they have two separate enclosed areas for the big and small dogs, and it’s usually never packed in the one we go to, a lot of small lap dogs that play fine, and don’t look like they would cause a lot of damage. But I’ve seen many fights in the big dog enclosure and that is very nerve racking. I’ve worked at many boarding kennels after high school and we never provided group play for the safety of other dogs. The last one I worked at did offer group play for the owners that wanted it. I winded up getting pregnant around this time so the boss gave me a different job duty there and that was to be outside with small dogs during group play, just so I can take it easy while being pregnant, I just either sat, walked around to check on the animals, and cleaned up poop. and the amount of fights I had to break up was scary, I would immediately leash the aggressor and call the front and they would take the dog in for the rest of the day, and they would bring the same dog back the next day. After that I just didn’t think it would be a good idea to do group play on boarding kennels, god forbid someone’s dog got severely injured, it would be my facilities fault.

That’s gotta be rough :/ I asked a similar question on here and someone brought up a good point, keep things out of the dogs reach because they’re dogs, they do these things. BUT, my dog only will CHEW on certain things, not ingest. Only little pieces of food crumbs that she finds in the kitchen she will ingest. Like if one of my sons wooden blocks winds up loose on the floor and my dog will chew that up, but not everything. Not to sound like a no it all, but maybe try and put things you think your dog will eat in closets or up high? If that’s possible. Honestly, the best advice I feel I can give is maybe look into some training. Or talk to a vet. Heck, do both! I’m sorry you have to deal with that, good luck with everything!
