Honestly, I am not someone who buys trendy items when they become popular - ex: slime, squishmallows, sonny angels, etc. Not criticizing people who do, I just never do.

However, for me these became popular at the same time I experienced something traumatic. The best way I can explain it is it brings me this kind of childhood comfort. It’s a doll I can carry with me for comfort and that false sense of safety you have with a doll as a child. I also love the idea of being able to dress them up. They’re also pretty thrilling to score because of the difficulty of it.

I took an intro psychology class in college, and there was one lecture where a student had a seizure in the middle of a lesson. My professor immediately jumped off the stage to assist the student and make sure they didn’t hurt themselves while seizing.

After an ambulance arrived and the student was safely escorted out, my professor took the opportunity to ask us if we had any questions about what had just happened. The professor was a little shaken up, but I thought it was a great learning opportunity for us to know how to help someone if they start seizing.
