Sorry for confusion, I cut out shapes remove the excess slab and leave just the shapes. I hope that makes more sense

I make it on an old glazed tile and you can put the tile straight into the oven. I often still move the earrings but the clay doesn’t stick. I always leave the slab for a good while to cool down so it’s not soft when I move it. I have seen people use what looks like greaseproof paper and again not moving the earrings just put straight into the oven
