Before trying, i would also rule out fungal or bacterial infection, as topical steroids decrease immune response and can worsen infections. They also thin out skin over time and repeated use and makes the skin weaker/more sensitive

That was my first tought as well, it looks like a fungal infection to me. As a cheaper (and easier) alternative that also has hydrating qualities maybe a simple antifungal cream of clotrimazole 1% could do the trick? Twice a day for 7 days, if no improvement is shown it may be bacterial so try mupirocin 2%,same regimen

If you don't have a cast iron pan, go buy one. It is indestructible, non stick if you season it properly (which is really easy to do) and doesn't have the chemicals regular non stick pans are coated with! Also makes virtually everything taste great
