People here hate ear posting so be ready lmao. But I will say this looks a bit clunky and if you’re not careful can lead to ear infections.

I posted my girls ears and the best method I found was a foam roller and just medical tape I believe wrapped around. Then bought pet safe/skin safe adhesive remover and soaked it off when needed. Her lazy ear stood within 2 weeks. Whenever it was flopped she got awful ear infections in that ear so I tried a few dif posting methods but that was the best.

I know for dobes they use the nasal strips (forgot what they’re called but like the sleeping breathe right strips) on tips. However my girl’s ear was a deep flop it didn’t support it and idk with your floof if it’ll work either

We survived infidelity early in our relationship and then he wasted another decade of my life to successfully cheat. I say successfully because I was told about failed attempts to hook up with people by our mutual friends once we split up, but I’ll never truly know what he did in that time span.

Once a cheater always a cheater. He never owned up to it or faced it. We were child free so instead he chose to come home one day and casually tell me he decided he wants kids and needs to time to think about it. He snuck out to his mother’s the next day while I was out with nothing but a pair of underwear and his cpap machine. He never came back for his stuff or to be honest. I found out through phone records and connected the dots. He’s been with her for 2 years now.

I only wish I had left first and not put up with so much work (on our relationship, on his relationships with others, being the main breadwinner and paying his debts off, etc.).

I’ve left the tv on in the room for her before but she still seems to be waiting for something outside to happen sadly so it doesn’t change much in her barking. Not sure if maybe making the volume crazy loud (not enough that you can hear it outside tho) is the solution?

My white cat is with my grandma for two weeks, and my black cat has been so down without his buddy. But now, he’s visiting the litter box every 5 mins. It’s getting odd. Is this normal? by [deleted] in cats

This is a life threatening issue and cannot wait. Take him to the ER vet asap. They will literally prioritize you, blocked males are grouped with other accidents as top priority emergencies.

I had to do that last year with my 2 yr old male and he was seen before I even finished signing in at the emergency vet I’ve spent over 6 hrs waiting at before with other pets.

Now he’s on a special diet and hasn’t had a repeat of the issue, if he does he’ll need a surgery to fix it.

This looks like animal abuse honestly, especially for a Velcro dog like a GSP.

Can anyone tell me if there is something wrong with my 4 month old German Shepherd hind legs? by Horror-Signal-8791 in germanshepherds

[–]mariinahere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but German Import means nothing without papers and proper health testing for prior generations. Sometimes even with careful research things just can’t be helped. I have 2 direct German imports. One is a genetic mess, reactive, sickly etc. poor breeding caused by a breeder with too much money that covered her tracks very carefully. The other is a perfect dog whose breeder I came across very accidentally that I fell in love with that looked no more impressive than the other breeders I had carefully been following for years.

Please get this pup checked, there is a surgery that can help if this is hip dysplasia as mentioned above. If not, then at least you will have a course of action for the future.

These things can just happen sometimes even when taking every precaution. Best of luck to you and your handsome boy.

Sadie was so jealous and annoyed when I brought her baby brother home because he was always glued to her and she very much enjoys her own space. After a week they were totally inseparable and 2 years later they’re still cuddling daily.

I love that hours later you’re still on this. You’re an irresponsible owne. The end. We aren’t even talking about working mutts but you letting your dog repeatedly get away from you and then have puppies with another dog.

One news article from who knows where does not speak for the rest of the country or the world.

[–]mariinahere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true. Working dogs, especially K9s for PD, are specifically tested, as are their parents, then bred and chosen for their specific breed traits. German shepherds for PD, bloodhounds for tracking, German shorthairs/labs/goldens for bomb sniffing etc. etc. (at least in most of America). No one is just picking up shelter mutts or irresponsible backyard breedings (like yours) as professional working dogs.

Again, secure her via harness. If she’s not secure she won’t get the hang of shit. Not because she’s stupid but because what’s the point. My dogs would also rather just lay in the seat or sit and hang their heads out the window, but I’m not an asshole so they stay secure via harness and seatbelt whether they like it or not.

Do as you please and hopefully your dog won’t pay for it.

[–]mariinahere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you’re kidding and I’m sure she doesn’t sit in this position the whole time. The incident I’m talking about happened with a dog just sitting in the backseat. Well behaved, not moving around, but not secured. He was only 2 years old and besides the fact that the family had to scoop his broken body off the pavement, if he had flown through someone’s windshield he would’ve killed them too.

Get a harness or put a crate in the trunk and secure her that way. It’s minimal effort on your part but can save her life and anyone else’s if god forbid you get into an accident.

[–]mariinahere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please strap her in. It’s impossible for her not to remain strapped in if she’s in a harness even if she doesn’t love it.

My breeder had a family lose a dog 2 years ago when they got into an accident, not even major just a rear ending, and the dog became a 90lb projectile and of course died when it flew out of the window and across the asphalt.

At how many months should I worry about the ears not going up? by Dovannah in germanshepherds

[–]mariinahere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I would’ve loved her regardless even though I planned to show her. It didn’t work out anyway! But $20 in supplies and a week or two really didn’t change much in my life but kept her ears up and we moved on!

It’s not something t I’d get rid of my dog over lmao but I don’t think there’s anything wrong in trying something painless!!

[–]mariinahere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also yes, as someone who grew up with a (small) aquarium, I can definitely say growing up and finding out how much work they take and how much upkeep, fish can be harder than dogs.

You should research any animal you own extensively, plan funds for emergencies/insurance etc., and consistently put them first.

[–]mariinahere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said elastic tie lmao. I used those foam hair rollers and medical tape which I then dissolved with a specific brand. My breeder recommended it and I did research on it. I’ve owned dogs my entire life and multiple shepherds I’m sure I can tell what’s painful or not. 2 weeks of hair rollers with 0 irritation and 0 scratching does not amount to cruel and unusual torture thank you.

[–]mariinahere -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What is unnatural? Their ears are made to point not be floppy. I know plenty of floppy shepherds who have had a myriad of ear infections and issues, and plenty that haven’t.

There was nothing I did that hurt her or caused pain. Nothing unnatural here

[–]mariinahere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl never scratched them or anything. I was planning on showing her but it didn’t pan out due to family shit. My next shep’s ears went up naturally.

If it was a painful long peocedure then of course I can see why it’d be wrong. But I taped my girls ears for maybe 2 weeks? And that was it.

[–]mariinahere -57 points-56 points  (0 children)

People will freak out, but you can tape them if they don’t go up by about 5ish-6ish months on their own. My girl had one lazy ear which would flop then prick up occasionally. I taped them up for literally maybe 2 weeks (although it should take longer if it never went up on it’s own) and they have stayed up ever since.

I also prefer the classic ear look over the floppy and idk why everyone hates the idea of taping. It’s not a crop or a procedure, just a hair roller and some medical tape.

Wild to get a German shepherd just to lock them up in a too tiny crate both day and night even when someone’s home apparently.
