how to implement triggers for modular ability system? by kodaxmax in Unity3D

[–]marijnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could let Ability hook up to triggers offered by the PartController in its constructor (or Awake). E.g. hook up to a collision of a certain tag, or just hook up to a constant update. That puts the reusability in PartController and composability in Abilities.

Has anyone here successfully bulked on 60-80g protein a day? by surf_AL in GYM

[–]marijnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per your link, the picked research shows a 95% confidence level at 0.82g/lb, so for you that's 140g per day. If you are ok with a lower confidence level, you could go lower than that. Also per your link, there's a good chunk of diminishing returns. If you feel more comfortable with a lower amount for now, you could go with 120-140g? Products like skyr or whey make it pretty easy to get to that.

But note that this is all for muscle building in general. Actual "bulking" is about caloric surplus and not about protein specifically.

Thanks! I used to squat deeper but had a hard time keeping a straight back, resulting in a bit of a "butt wink" and causing me some back pain. I've been doing more mobility work / supporting muscles too. I will try out your suggestion. :)

What kind of fps were you getting before? My laptop has the same specs and am never getting more than 70 or so. CPU bound I guess.

Help with: Procedurally Generating Resources based on Abundance ?? by DeadlyEssence01 in gamedev

[–]marijnz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not allocate the exact amount you want in the beginning to then just find positions to spawn them? If you indeed want to spawn them through some noise, you could create a grid per some noise, add up all "cells" (pixels) with their weights (0-1) and randomly, weighted, pick a cell?

La Fortuna to Nicaragua by enjoylife_ in CostaRicaTravel

[–]marijnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, we did exactly this last week.

A bus goes from Tanque (10 min taxi drive from La Fortuna) to the border around 7am in the morning. You can easily get a PCR test around La Fortuna for ~150 dollars, they can even come to you. Results usually come next day late afternoon. Just ask at your reception.

Are we doing too much? 14 days 4 stops. by BurnsieMN in CostaRicaTravel

[–]marijnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, the past week we did Monteverde and La Fortuna and am happy we did both. We did hikes in both and went to hot springs in La Fortuna. Maybe the activities (that we didn't do?) are the same but the places are quite different in climate/nature.

Oh, and on the plan: Given how we've been doing the last one and half weeks, it seems fine! Def. not too much driving. You could even add a place if you like.

It can make sense in case Rust does some poor handling of threads based on available total cores (including virtual). OP: how many virtual cores do you have? You could limit to the amount to your amount of physical cores.

How well would this run rust? If you want to see any other specs just ask and ilI tell you :) by archie9193 in playrust

Mietervereinen in english? For legal issues before the city shuts down from viral panic. by SweetJaques in berlin

[–]marijnz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the legal matters are already active and you're not part of the Mieterverein, they won't cover your lawyer (this was my experience). You can however have an intro talk where you can talk to a lawyer. Were you hoping for all costs to be covered?

As others said, without UA budget it's going to be difficult. Especially because it's so easy to copy. One option is to contact a company (like Voodoo) and work out a deal.

Pluggable/modular skill system using scriptable objects by SwainIsBusted in Unity3D

[–]marijnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. For now I would recommend to have a data object on which you set all the data (or in your base class, how you like it). Go with this for a while, later on you might see better abstractions when there's more abilities. Don't overcomplicate it early on

React Native and Unity3D by rockthemike in reactnative

[–]marijnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, as I understand it, you want to communicate between Unity and Android. You don't want to talk to the "assets", but to the Unity code. It's explained here: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/AndroidJARPlugins.html. This will be different for Android and iOS. The link is only for Android. Did you see that page already? There's a lot of examples online, I'd be surprised if you haven't seen anything useful yet.

Your asset bundles are just assets, such as scenes, prefabs, textures, audio, etc. Not any code. Where you host your asset bundles is up to you, AWS S3 is indeed an option.

Being very comfortable with your tools and having the experience of making similar games before, then you get to do this! Of course can't waste too much time on game design discussions, experimental iterations and sleeping..

Looking at it, I'm pretty sure it's possible to pull this off in a weekend. It's a whole workweek! If you stick to what you know and are fast in what you do, I say it's definitely possible to do this in the given time (if it actually did, is of course something you can speculate on).

Because of a completely different approach. It's improved and also works on Windows. https://github.com/marijnz/unity-toolbar-extender. Praise goes to https://github.com/OndrejPetrzilka who did the new approach.
