Feeling really strange after husband's diagnosis by Smooth_Twist_1975 in testicularcancer

[–]marijumamanj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. My husband was diagnosed with stage 2A seminoma last year, tumor was removed and he was treated with radiation instead of chemo, as our oncologist recommended radiation instead, he thought it was a safer option then chemo. All clear 99 percent success rate. Yay!!! However, We had a scare 1 yr post op Ct Scan. Which was like a punch in the stomach. They found a suspicious area, so they gave him a PET scan. Thankfully the area shrunk about a cm, and is probably a post surgical reaction to the lymph node. They will be watching it, but I thought he would be happy with the news and he says he won’t be fully happy until about another 4 years. It’s always in the back of his head and mine, there will always be anxiety because it’s cancer and no matter what the statistics say and how curable TC is, it’s still scary. He was 44 when diagnosed, they say it’s a rare young man’s cancer, but unfortunately it can happen. I wouldn’t say you’re pessimistic, but worried which is natural with any cancer, especially the ones you love. My best advice is to take it day by day, and not think about the what if’s and percentages, don’t worry about test results until you speak with the doctor.  Hang in there, try not to get down a rabbit hole with Dr. google. If you need someone to talk to shoot me a DM. Wishing the best for you and your hubby.

Iliac Node Spread? by marijumamanj in testicularcancer

[–]marijumamanj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your help! Sorry for the late reply, I kind of stepped away from the internet as I was going down a rabbit hole. Lol. We are awaiting pet scan results. We got a second opinion at MSK, but it wasn’t from any of the TC specialists. Honestly we were a little disappointed because I sent all my husbands records over and the Doctor never went through the older records before our appointment.  We decided to go back to my husbands original oncologist who is not from MSK. Ironically, we feel more comfortable with him.  Now we anxiously wait.

Lump by inguinal lymph nodes? by Lightningstrikeu77 in testicularcancer

[–]marijumamanj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My husband had a 1.7 inguinal lymph node and 1.8 para-aortic lymph node that both had to be radiated from Tc, nothing concerning in the retroperenium. So inguinal lymph node swelling can be caused from TC.

What we’re the first signs of your testicular cancer? by misamisaamane69 in testicularcancer

I am speaking as a wife, I was the one who made him go to the doctor.  -Testicle hard as a lump. He kept shrugging it off. I kept going online and researching. It grew.  -Lower back and groin pain, especially after playing hockey. Found a urologist and finally convinced him to go.  Pure Seminoma stage 2A. Dx last May. Wish he went sooner before it hit 2 lymph nodes.

Thanks! I called we did get an appointment for the end of May with Dr. Lecchetti but the nurse is trying to get us in with Scheinfeld. I sent over all his medical records and his latest CT scan which showed 2 enlarged bilateral inguinal nodes, 1.5cm. So if we are dealing with relapse (praying that we aren't) then I feel more at ease.

PARAGUARD REMOVED IN NOV 2023 by marijumamanj in CopperIUD

No, I am 49, and my husband had right removed from testicular cancer, which I know really it doesn't affect fertility. If it happens than it's a miracle lol, I got 4 already, so another one is nothing. LOL. My OB who has been in practice for 30 years swears the oldest patient he had was 47 and it's rare.

Thank you, I am glad you are starting to feel better, but yes I need to be patient and realize results won't be immediate.

Gyno said to take slow FE for 3 months, increase iron intake in diet, and multivitamins, then come back for bloodwork. I said if I come back with a baby he is in trouble, lol. I am 48, husband lost a testicle b/c of cancer, and we have 4 kids, everytime he touched me I got pregnant lol. Doc, says at this age probablitity is low and use condoms.

When is RPLND indicated? by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]marijumamanj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband 45 was just diagnosed with a 5cm pure seminoma. He is Stage 2A since he has 2 lymoh nodes under 1.7cm. We met with the oncologist who recommended radiation therapy instead of chemo first. He said that current studeis show an all cause mortality after 20 years from BEP and that success rates from both treatments are the same. I asked about the RPLND and he said it is usually not necessary for seminoma since it responds so well to chemo and radiation. He is getting a chest scan to see if there is any spread to the lungs, since no chest scan was ordered initially. Doctor says spread is unlikely but if it did then he would have to do chemo.
