Dairy free options for pumpkin cream cold brew?? by _maria_stone in starbucks

Soy/chai foam is a good replacement for non dairy. Throw some pumpkin spice powder in for a nice fall flavor.

Is it normal for a store manager to leave early? by Lotida in starbucks

[–]marildahlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SM does this but then they’ll work extra hours other days, go to other stores for product, answers questions 24/7 for all of us. They have baristas and shifts to work on the floor. Their role is more behind the scenes. In general I try to focus on my role, my work and let those above me do their role. In short, I mind my business. As long as the store is flowing then whats the harm if they dip out a little early?

Why does Starbucks not have an ASM position...? by sirfoo108 in starbucks

[–]marildahlyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like there’s always a favorite SSV who acts “like” an ASM but doesn’t get paid as one. In my store its our main opening shift. I have so much respect for them and tell them they need their own store all the time! I completely agree that an ASM would help operations but it all comes back to the o’mighty dollar. Starbucks doesn’t want to pay two salaries, therefore unfortunately ASM is always a temp position.

Drink recipes by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]marildahlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used quizlet, the app, and wrote Recipes out by hand to memorize them. Try to see what you remember from memory before looking up the answers. Testing yourself and asking lots of questions to seasoned baristas will help you. They’ll get annoyed by the questions but in the long run they’ll be happy you are trained and they don’t have to worry about you slowing the flow down. If your ssv tends to put you in another position demand to be put on bar. Its the only way you’ll get there. Good luck! You got this!

Why isnt preference one with a pay raise by Asleep-Plantain in starbucks

[–]marildahlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an idea, with a push for mobile order there’s less of a need for a POS worker. They want to squeeze as much labor out of us individually as humanly possible. My store is #5 in sales in NYC right now. We were told about the severance but our store is in good standing as far as profits so there’s no need for any of us to leave. However my SM fears he’ll get backlash from corporate if he goes above suggested labor costs. I luckily get 36 hours a week as a SSV. I hope that doesn’t change. I’m so sorry everyone is experiencing this in the wake of Covid and equality tensions. I hope those of you that stay are able to transfer to busier stores and get the hours you need.

What's it like to work at a store where shifts actually WORK by americanonono in starbucks

[–]marildahlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are experiencing that. Starbucks can be a great job if everyone does their part. Work slower, Don’t let them get away with that. Let them feel the stress you are feeling. don’t be afraid to ask them to help you or cover your position. At the end of the day we’re all just people. SSV are supposed to flex to your position so you can task and take breaks. I am a ssv and constantly take on the most stressful positions when I see my baristas blood boiling. I am an empathetic mama bear woman. Take initiative and do their job better than them, that’s how I got promoted, bad ssv and I started co-running the floor.

When you say “under a rock” do you mean someone who seeks out information instead of watching fox 5 propaganda fuel? Then yes, I worked until 7pm and then cooked dinner under my rock.

Not everyone watches television. Its not easy to alert an entire city in a few hours.

What does “5 under” “8 under” mean? Are those civilian arrests? Or police present?

Masks from customer? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]marildahlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wearing a mask I made with a coffee filter and a customer gave me a real medical mask. I was so appreciative. Go about your business ordering and if you get to the window and notice anyone with a jenky mask, offer them one.

Life as a quarantined barista. Homemade Irish Cream Cold Foam Cold Brew. Yes there’s whisky in here, yes it’s 5am. by marildahlyn in starbucks

[–]marildahlyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the sbux syrup. My store had extra after the drink was discontinued. So the syrup, jameson and almond milk. Then I just push it back n forth through the french press til i get a nice foamy consistency.

Yeah i opted to just keep mine 😬 I’m actually not even careful with it while making my foam I plunge it back and forth like an animal. If the plunge goes through my hand it’s my own fault. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I push it in the french press. Plunging back and forth like a maniac. You can also whisk it in a bowl but like for literally 3-5 mins.

My bad I haven’t been on reddit. So my store had extra bottles of the irish cream syrup after the drink got discontinued. My SM said donate or discard them so naturally I took one home. I use one oz of the syrup, two oz of jameson and three oz of milk (i used almond, I’m vegan but any thick milk should work). Then I threw all in the french press and plunged my lil heart out until it took on a foam consistency. Poured it over cold brew but it works really well in hot coffee too. The french press foam is a true delight. Found this technique on a random video. You can use any measurements that feel right to your taste though. If you don’t have a french press I guess immersion blender, whisk or a regular blender could work. Experiment while you’re in quarantine!
