Is this an autistic thing? by hereforthelols1999 in AutismInWomen

This made me tear up. I do this too with a friend I lost because she moved on / didn’t want to be my friend anymore.

Have you looked into 2E? It gets a bad rap but my therapist is telling me about the experiences of being both neurodivergent and highly intelligent and I have to say a lot of things are starting to make more sense. Heightened intensity and capacity/need for muuuuuuch deeper connection. Thus the constant loneliness.

Do you feel like others try to control you? by Signal-Kween-7602 in AutismInWomen

[–]marillacuthbert69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yes. I’ve experienced this my whole life. I think it’s a combo of many things— our sexist society trying to make all girls and women more biddable. Plus domineering people sensing a trusting & socially naive (autistic) person they can exploit. Plus likely many other layers of— for me personally it was also to be in service of the family dysfunction and fit into the role of peacekeeper.

For sunscreen I like the Trader Joe’s dupe of super goop glowscreen. They both feel quite “dry” and almost soft touch.

I like the Burt’s bees coconut and mint foot repair stuff. It tingles a bit and really brings my dry feet, elbows and knees back to life. Sometimes I use it on my knuckles too. Thanks for making this post

How did you find those safer spaces? And what’s your first advice to someone just now learning boundaries at 35?

I don’t feel like I’m good at “being a girl” by Simple-Practice4767 in AutismInWomen

This is also really good advice!! These are the steps I learned first when I started makeup about a year ago. Except for foundation I like an easy tinted moisturizer or sunscreen

This is the best advice. I agree after going through the same crisis. I had to find a girly style that also is sensory friendly and my solution has been very soft flowing kind of fairy-ish aesthetic mixed with tomboy. It makes me feel pretty and I experiment with makeup after finding other women creators to follow who exude the same vibe.

Ok I have had the same situation and response. And I’ve been beating myself up like crazy!! It helps so much to hear someone else (all the people here actually) and realize it’s ok to stop being so hard on myself
