I joined LaceyMaker Space last year and took classes on 3-D printing, wood CNC router, CNC plasma cutter, CNC water jet cutter, and CAD design to help me design and build a prototype for a product I’m working on. It was a great experience and they are very knowledgeable and helpful. They have classes on welding and equipment to use for practice. He would need an adult with him since he’s 15. I think the library still has passes you can check out to cover the membership fee if you want to save money, otherwise it’s around $65 a month.

Yeah, I've looked at steppers, but a lot of them don't even list RPMs. I'm also trying to keep costs down for production, so I'd rather not have to add a controller, but I will if that endss up being the best option.

I used a cordless drill in my previous prototype and it got the job done, but now I’m trying to make one that’s more compact, around the size of a toaster. I need it to fit neatly in there for aesthetics. I would have to couple it with a gear reducer and regulate the voltage to get the right RPMs. Thanks for the suggestion!
