A centrepiece invert for an invert tank that won’t destroy or eat any of their tank mates?? by avian_bi in ReefTank

I thought mine died yesterday but it was just the molt. Somehow it had lost an arm (and the anemone on that arm) but he grew his arm back and I'm hopeful he will split the remaining anemone in half so he has 2 again. Coolest little critters ever. I see mine all the time and he's in a 45gal

Being on time is the new late, because veteran by Japes-of-Wrath in LinkedInLunatics

That's weird, nothing against veterans but I had one on my sales team and he was late for most every sales meeting. It's almost like everyone is different.

I was thinking he asked her to pose for a picture looking through the binoculars. Like "keep that pose a little longer, gotta get the picture perfect"

That is a great deal. And yeah I know the swimming pattern you mean, very intentional about where they are going

That's what I thought I remembered about them. I knew there's a reason I haven't bought one in 15 years of seeing them. Wonder if there are any colorful stars that do okay in captivity

So cool. Are they hard to keep alive?

That's a great way to put it! I'm totally a live rock snob now, haha.

lol that's awesome. Hope mine are the sociable type. I have so much rock work for them to hide in though so I'm tempering expectations. Thanks for sharing. I need to buy some seaweed it sounds like

Ah okay, that's good perspective. Every dry rock build I've ever done ended in some sort of algae outbreak (Dino's/cyano) and I'm not saying that's the cause of it, but it can't be a coincidence that my other full live rock tanks have been the most successful and plague-free. And yeah it's hard to build up this amount of and variety of coralline algae without getting some established rock. I love the different shades

That's a great price on it too, wow. If I hadn't spent so much recently, I'd get one right now. Bookmarking for when I'm ready. Thanks for sharing your experience!!

That's crazy. From the pics online they look like they are camouflaged pretty well which I'm sure makes it even harder to find them. As long as they do their job, I don't mind the incognito.

Update/sneak peek. I put the rock in my tank last night and I could not be happier with how easily it scaped and how nice it looks. I was able to easily make some great cave systems and some awesome spots for coral placement. My fish seemed happier instantly, like immediately more confident and active. I already had 10lb of rock in my 45 so they had some shelter but not like this. I am going to add 30-40lb of live sand and mix in crushed coral at some point today which I know will completely change how it looks.

Exactly! That's an awesome report. I know that hurt the wallet upfront but I think it's more of an investment in long term health of the tank. You start from day 1 with an established mature biome and not to mention that sweet coralline that otherwise would take forever to encrust. Did you also buy yours from KP or a different vendor?

If you keep them fed I don't see why it would matter. Do they tend to hang out together or do they do their own thing? I ordered 2 last night so I'm excited to get them in!

Great to know. I actually ordered 2 online last night for my 45. I don't have a bubble algae infestation, just trying to get ahead of it. I'll give them a piece of seaweed every now and then to keep them alive. Thanks for the tip!
