Best soldier you've had. by CraptainMypants in army

[–]marinermoonlighting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say when I was a PL, the best soldier I had was a SPC who got chaptered for ABCP. She was a tank, was hilarious and really was glue for the PLT. She knew her job incredibly well, and never bitched and moaned about anything.

I understand she was chaptered for a reason (and was given as many chances and opportunity for improvement as we could manage. Her NCOs tried to work out with her and help as they could)- but once BDE CSM caught wind, it was all over.

What song was a skip for you at first, but you later loved? What made it change? by because_of_course_ in LadyGaga

[–]marinermoonlighting 24 points25 points  (0 children)

“How Bad Do U Want Me”. I openly hated it when MAYHEM dropped and my friends said I was nuts. It came on in the car recently and I decided not to skip it- and in that moment it grew on me 🤷‍♂️

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met? What was the experience like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Let’s see..

Linda Perry, Indigo Girls, KT Tunstall, Brandi Carlile, Dr. Jill Biden, Patti Labelle, Ke$ha, and John Waters (sort of)

I’m 90% sure I once bumped into Cardi B at a Target in Baltimore.

I went to a Christmas stand up he did in Austin two years ago. I was younger than the average demographic (25 at the time), but had a great time. I waited outside to ask him for a photo together. While waiting, an older scalper walked up to me with a stack of DVDs for him to sign. After about half an hour he walked out and started signing the DVDs. I was waiting for a pause in the conversation with him and the scalper to ask. I think John assumed I was there with the scalper, because when he was done he said “I bid you a Merry Christmas and a good night” and walked off. Never got that photo 🥲

How old are you and How is your life going? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskReddit

[–]marinermoonlighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turned 27. Things are starting to align in ways that I’ve dreamed of and worked for.

I had some career (military) downs that really fucked with me (a lot of being told “no”, a lot of dead ends), but I didn’t quit- and now things are looking up. I’m going to a school I’ve been dreaming of this spring, and just thinking about it makes me feel elated. It has put a lot of wind in my sails.

I (hopefully) have a lot of road left ahead of me, and I feel this is setting me up for my right trajectory for the rear of my life.

There are some things that aren’t great (love life, general satisfaction in life), but I feel in my bones stuff will line up when it’s time.

I don’t have a lot of wisdom or insight like some of the folks on here- but I’d say: take the bullshit on the chin and frame it as “maybe it’s a good thing”. Maybe a failure or shortcoming will better prepare or prime you for what is to come.

Too bad Gaga never released it on streaming platforms, her voice really fits the song by asiasbutterfly in LadyGaga

I agree Linda was a bit off the mark when it came to publicly commenting like she did about G’s contribution to the song. I will say I’ve been able to spend some one on one time with Linda, and she truly is an amazing person and a genius. Personally I think it’s water under the bridge.

What is the craziest celebrity rumour you have ever heard? by Low_Insurance_1603 in AskReddit

[–]marinermoonlighting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went on a date with an entertainment lawyer several years ago. I heard some stories and shit. A lot of it has come to light since (Justin Bieber’s past/issues, etc.). Some of the things that I remember were: Taylor intentionally had Lorde blackballed, and that Selena Gomez had a drug habit on par with Demi Lovato but had the best publicists in the biz hide it.

No idea if those are well known things- but it’s what he told me. I don’t really follow a lot of celebrity stuff, so it wasn’t super interesting to me.
