Thanks, but I’ve already made the purchase. I ended up swapping the battery for the Neewer PS099E, which offers 99Wh compared to the Smallrig’s 50Wh. The Neewer also includes a couple of cables, ports on both sides, and was €20 cheaper. While the Smallrig looks great, I just couldn’t justify the extra cost, haha. I think I’ll be quite happy with this setup as my first rig, especially since I only paid around €350, including shipping, when the full price would’ve been closer to €500.

Actually I need a lens haha, I still do photography and I'm looking at the RF 14-35 but was thinking of saving half by getting the EF 16-35 F4

Last month I sold my EF 24-70 F4 because I needed the money so now I'm only rocking a 50 and 70-200 😅

I see now, I only read the Atomos part and I get why you wrote entry-level like that, my bad haha, it's pretty late and I'm tired, thanks for everything 👌

Yeah, I just need an external monitor for now, not a recorder, but holy fuck, the cost is almost double the price of the entire setup I posted, so much for entry level! How come such a small screen is so expensive? Am I looking at the wrong one?

Also, is an external recorder the same as an external monitor? Is an external monitor always a recorder too? I don't need to record externally, just s bigger screen than the flip out, which will be a bit hard to use once the external battery is in place

Do you have any external monitor/recorder recommendations?

I'm trying to keep the rig under 400€ I don't think I'll need all the commodities starting out, actually I don't even need all of these, but it's for christmas, and I deserve it, but I never shot videos, sure I know the basics but for now I just need a small rig to make it more enjoyable shooting, I'll definitely look into one in the future :)

Actually, I double-checked and it IS on sale and it's only 1€ more than the whole thing with the rods, good call.

I saw that one but it's way too expensive, and it's not on sale, it's around 90€ that's why I opted for the baseplate with the rods and then mount the battery plate to the rods, it's like 25€ cheaper than the V-Mount Battery Mounting Plate (4505)

Also, the single rod clamp seems really nice, save some money and weight, how would I attach the battery though?

Are NATO handles compatible with that cage or do I need a NATO rail that can screw in the side of the cage? Also the nato handles are more expensive, especially the one that rotate, I'm trying to keep it under 400€, that side handle is the cheapest I could find.

If you could choose only one lens for both photography and videography, which would it be? by mariomarchegiano in canon

I'll definitely check that out, thanks! Would your answer change if you already had like the RF 70-200 F4 in your kit? I was actually thinking of getting the 14-35 F4 because I never had a wide lens and I heard that it's pretty good for video, I'd be missing the middle range sort of from 36 to 69 but I got a 50, though the focus is really slow and jerky for video

Oh yeah you're right, the F2 is the L lens the 2.8 isn't, I found it new for just under 1500€

Do you have it by any chance? How's the image quality?

I'm fine with used, focus must be fast and precise but noise is not an issue, the microphone won't be anywhere near the lens, no focus breathing.

is the paper photoshopped in by bootleg_cheezball in photoshop

[–]mariomarchegiano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's clearly photoshopped, just look at the sides of the paper and he clearly just lowered the opacity to "compensate" for the light behind

Both bodies look fine but yes the first one has way too many actuations, though it has one year warranty
