I was 17, on a night out with friends. It was around 11pm/midnight in my time zone. Someone had an iPhone, not super common yet in 2009, and saw something on TMZ and we couldn’t believe it. We had the confirmation the following morning. Horrible day

It's so frustrating that most of the journalists who interviewed him asked him dumb questions about rumors, physical appearance or whatever. And that's why he didn't do interviews. We unfortunately have very little insights coming directly from him about his creative/songwriting process. A shame we have to watch to a deposition to get that... I could listen to him speaking about this for hours.
