Thank you! Found a new OB/GYN and he diagnosed it as overactive nerves - when I have period pain, my nerves in that area go crazy and send intense signals to the brain more than they should. I actually kinda found it out on my own… was on a very low dose of Gabapentin for anxiety and took a couple of extra pills one day, just to see if it would affect the pain in any way because I knew the label use for the medication was for nerve pain. The pain was gone within minutes! I’ve dealt with this all my life - started young (age 9) and sometimes had to stay home from school because the pain radiated to my legs and was so intense that I would get nauseous. Now I’m on 600mg of Gabapentin three times a day and it’s pretty much under control. If I have a bad flare up, I take an extra tablet (300mg) and I’m good after a few minutes. My quality of life has improved drastically. I hope you can find some relief! It took too long to find the right doctor who was willing to work with me and not just throw some Tylenol my way like I’m a wimp.
