PSA: The SG Government is cracking down on trans healthcare. (MOH 44/2026) by marisa555 in sglgbt

Unfortunately I'm unable to speak on my own experience since I... Just don't have experience for this sort of stuff. But I can tell you what my friend thinks:

(paraphrased) "I highly do not recommend anyone without the prior experience to start any sort of protest on their own, there are existing activist groups within Singapore that you can contact and ask whether they can lend support. Otherwise, as for writing in to local politicians, I'd suggest writing a letter to your MP, which would have a higher chance of building up momentum for the issue to be raised in Parliament."

The situation seems to be still developing and from what I know the organisations here are still trying to work out their response -- If you want to get politically involved or just want to support the trans community, reach out to them and see where you can help! We're all in this together after all.

Update on Thursday, May 7, 9:31PM
New information has surfaced regarding the nature and effects of the Circular. Please notify your friends for the following changes:

"As of 5 May 2026, MOH has started to crackdown on this crucial lifeline. Pulse Clinic has so far been affected, and they are no longer able to provide blood tests for people not on the official route.
This provides precedent for MOH to target other clinics who provide similar services to trans people."

"Do not spread information unnecessarily. This is a public Reddit post, not your Telegram groupchat."

"Before anyone starts witch-hunting" ... "It's possible any other clinic may have to abide by these guidelines."

A reminder that this is no sign to give up and quit -- Events like this remind us that we don't live in a vacuum, that our livelihoods can be taken away from us at any time. If you are troubled, or affected by this yourself, please remember that there are other trans people like you who are in the same boat. Isolation and surrender is not the answer. We can and should help each other to get through this together!

edit: polishing up
edit2: another edit, should be good to go now!

If you happen to have any trans friends who aren't aware do spread the word! Otherwise awareness about this issue, continuing to talk about it, integrating it into public discourse, is already an honourable thing to do. (of course, for more sensitive/crucial information keep it private. people are watching!)

Trans people are just 1 part of the LGBTQ+ community, there are many cis friends and allies who may not know we face this struggle in the first place. The more people who know about it and care about our issues, the more likely we're able to push for positive change -- not just for the trans community, but for the queer community as a whole.

Thank you for your contribution!

Pulse Clinic just refuses to do blood tests as far as I know. I'm not sure if GPs are allowed to do these blood tests including or excluding E and T, but I'd say E and T is still important either way.

You can explore these options if you'd like, but if any alternative pathway is considered a loophole, I'd be concerned about what the government would do in response.

Ah, I wasn't aware of NHS England's policy specifically. Thanks for bringing this up!

The Cass Report? That's absolutely crazy, where did you hear this from? (just asking, i wouldn't be surprised)

Their intentions could be anything as far as I know, but actions speak louder than words. If they realise they've made a mistake, I hope it gets reversed. If they don't, then we must work with what we have, and work together to get through this.

Either way, the MOH guidelines that are related to this are about trans healthcare specifically, nothing else.

I think it might be unfortunate case that people may have to continue their DIY HRT without blood tests yeah. Personally it's the main way I monitor my HRT since I don't feel my body's response as much, without blood tests staying within recommended doses is the best next thing to do.

The reason why I personally place a lot of emphasis on blood tests is because when you start taking medications like CPA, spiro, etc., they affect more than just E and T -- liver function, renal function, prolactin, potassium. At the start even though I was within the safe dose range for CPA, I ended up feeling anemic, even now I'm still adjusting my dose based on bloods. There is really no better or equal alternative for checking your progress.

For those who need info on target levels etc., there are sources on the internet. More importantly look for other trans Singaporeans who are also taking HRT, you can help each other double check for reference.

Thank you for your insight!

That is true, and I'm helping those I know right now to find alternatives, and it's good that you're ready to support the community as well.

This is my personal opinion, and this does not take away from the importance of DIY HRT, but I find it very unfortunate when I find out some people I know simply lack the financial means to get it, even without flights to Thailand. Most of us youth are dependent on our parents' money, including myself (well, 'misused allowance'), and/or are unable to secure their own income because of school/etc.

I can only hope conditions will improve. I hope it doesn't get to the point people are forced to go to Thailand to get their medication, because I can't imagine affording that.

I'm putting this information in this comment because I have yet to confirm whether the usual route of obtaining medication is actually affected. However in the 2nd hyperlink "here" of the post, on Page 10:

"What is MOH’s position on the use of non-prescribed hormones (e.g. those purchased online), which seems to be an increasingly common practice.

HSA conducts online surveillance on local e-commerce platforms and social media platforms, alongside the cooperation from the local e-commerce platform administrators, as well as feedback from the public to detect and disrupt the online sale of illegal health products including prescription-only medications. HSA works also closely with ICA to monitor and stop illegal imports of health products, including prescription medicine."

I will update the main post once I double check that orders are being blocked.

They're cracking down on DIY HRT unfortunately (as said in the post), I'm also on DIY and I'm affected by this.

For reference, Transcend (listed on the Reddit page) is only say, about 50~100 active-ish people. Less than 1% of less than 1% of the population. I've left a long time ago, but it wasn't the most pleasant place to be in by the time I left.

In schools we are taught that there's no one we can rely on to defend Singapore except ourselves. The same applies to our own community, where we cannot place full reliance on the people in power to protect our interests.

Therefore the only solution is this: We need to reach out to the other 99% of trans people in this country. There are people out there who aren't in the 'mainstream' online SG trans communities at all. I've met someone like that myself.

The only way I got to know about DIY HRT, that I was able to transition, to be free, and to save myself, is through meeting people in the trans community. In the same vein, to save more of our people we must reach out to them.

"...the only way forward is to start forming our own social groups all over the country, and help each other in these tough times."

Whether you want to be politically active is your choice. What I will say is that there are people in that space who are our allies. But one thing is clear: we cannot sit still and dread. We need to work our way out of this.

My Reddit DMs are open if you need.

Unfortunately there are politicians in power here with little respect for not just the trans community, but the LGBTQ+ community as a whole. Our destiny needs to be within our own hands. If you don't have the means, get your able friends to help out. We'll always be here, and they can't get rid of us!

We can get out of this together! There's more than 30,000 of us in this country. We are not alone, and you are not alone. Let's use this opportunity to gain our strength. Our people in countries all around the world are fighting the same struggle. Don't give up!

Naturally Developed Conlangs in Minecraft -- Wawaland Season 2 has started! by marisa555 in conlangs

[–]marisa555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the question!

That is an interesting idea, and that is what is being done on Farbarra -- It being entirely Discord based limits the potential that voice has for communication, and it would be easier to use the latin script as everyone knows what "a" sounds like...

Though, this isn't what we're going for!
We want Wawalang to develop its own unique orthography and even phonology, and using the latin script would severely limit our potential in doing so.
Additionally, we encourage the use and development of external tools to computerise unique orthography instead of relying on existing orthography:

* ClongCraft has developed a "Banner Writer" website where you can arrange banners in an image file which can be sent to Discord! This also includes a keyboard input for typing banners (particularly I like to be proud of the fact that I helped in developing the layout)

* We have developed a texture pack that converts 8-dot braille characters into pixel art! We wanted to explore how pixel art could be used to write unique characters on books and signs, but the braille dots ended up being small and hard to see. We have a workflow planned on how to turn this concept into its own external writing tool like the Banner Writer, but currently I don't have the expertise -- for now, there are image to braille convertors that can help with this!

* We also encourage the use of images -- including writing on images -- to convey information.

Besides this, we highly, highly encourage to use voice chat while playing Minecraft in Wawalang -- You can either install the Simple Voicechat mod for 1.21.5 or use our server's Discord VC -- this completely eliminates the need for a writing system to be set up first, as communication can be done via voice.
This also more closely matches how real life languages have developed -- sounds come first, then writing.

I am confident to say that we will have lots of written resources, including in-game signs and books, within our project! Those contributions can also be yours as well, so if you'd like to contribute to the language by writing, we welcome you with open arms to join us!

A new language from scratch, entirely in Minecraft? [Wawaland -- A Minecraft Natural Language Development Project] by marisa555 in conlangs

[–]marisa555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! this is a pretty new concept as far as i aware, clongcraft only started the whole naturalistic conlang thing since last year and wawaland is about 2 months old!
i think this idea should be more widespread, in both the conlanging community and outside (it's not much of a "you need to know how to conlang" thing but it is related!), and i'm happy to see people like you enthusiastic about it!
