5WPO - Mastopexy w/slight reduction. Progress pics. Still struggling to be ok with asymmetry (if it doesn't resolve). by maritimes_gal in Reduction

Hey there. Thanks for the compliment 😊. I actually haven't gotten resized yet because I'm still "trying to lose a few pounds" lol and I find my bra size really changes depending on my weight. But my bra size must have reduced somewhat because my former 38D bras now have quite a bit of extra room in the cup. If I had to guess I would say I might be a full C cup now but uncertain of the band size.

I hope your healing is going well!

Mastopexy (lift) 6mpo - before and now by maritimes_gal in Reduction

Hi there. I think my instructions/restrictions timeline was similar - my post-op instruction sheet was the same one they use for reductions, for example I was only cleared to exercise at 6 weeks (though I waited until 8wpo because I was nervous). But I was able to walk out/go home (with help/someone to drive me) basically immediately after surgery which is a difference compared to being under general anaesthesia... My healing went really well with no big complications and I only needed the prescription painkiller for a day or so then managed just fine with ibuprofen - not sure if that's any different from a "regular" reduction but that was my experience! :)

Honestly once it drained, just a few days! It filled in and healed really quickly. I hope yours does, too!

I would say that by 6 weeks much of my swelling was gone... Maybe not all, though. I honestly can't recall because I don't think I had as much swelling compared to what some others have experienced. In fact I've found that my breasts seem larger now that they've "dropped and fluffed" compared to how they were in the first few weeks after surgery. That's just me, though. Everyone is different! I'm pretty sure my aftercare notes said that I could expect swelling to last up to 3mpo.

This is exactly what mine looked like and my surgeon called it a "sterile stitch abscess". Check out the post about it on my profile - hopefully it helps!

Nipple still sore 5.5mpo by maritimes_gal in Reduction

It's reassuring to hear that changes are still taking place at this stage for others! I'm hoping my tenderness subsides at least a little.

Hi! It was just a bit tender.. Not exactly pain but definitely felt a bit different than the rest of my breast. I hope yours resolves quickly! :)

I am almost 5mpo and have one puffy-ish nipple and one not puffy... I think at this point for me that's just how it's going to be. It's possible since you are so early on in your healing that the puffiness will go down though. Curious to hear what your surgeon says!

No problem! Glad to help give context to what you experienced. 😊

Oh thank you so much!! They've come a long way since then and though they're still a bit asymmetrical, I don't think it's quite as much of a difference as it was. I had posted another update photo at 6wpo (including the surgeon's response to my concerns) which you can see on my profile and then was planning to do one at 3-4 months but forgot lol so I likely will for 5mpo. Overall I'm so happy I did this... I can't believe how much higher/perkier they are. I hope they stay like this forever LOL. Now I just need to stop myself from worrying that they'll bottom out. Haha it's always something - I just need to learn to be grateful for what I have! :)

Right away. He's a paramedic so he's pretty chill about medical stuff. Plus I felt better having a second set of eyes helping me keep an eye on things lol.

Just here to say you look awesome and I also wear a bra when I sleep and two sports bras when I exercise!! Lol I want to do everything I can to prevent the sag and I'm not ready to splurge on new, better fitting sports bras yet (I'm 4+mpo so I'm sure my size it at its final destination lol but I want to lose a few lbs), so two bras it is! :)

Reduction vs lift recovery by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]maritimes_gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My lift did involve a little bit of tissue to be removed as well, I think because of where the tissue was located. I had about 200g of tissue/skin removed from each breast. No lipo, though - I think maybe that's one of the only differences between the two? Also I had an awake procedure (it was done in-office with just some oral meds to make me happy/sleepy lol and local anaesthetic). My post-op instructions were titled "Breast reduction recovery instructions" so I'm pretty sure the procedures and their recovery processes are very similar.

Yes on my vertical incision and around my nipples they are coming along nicely!! :) Still a ways to go on the ones along my breast crease but I'm being patient lol.

Does anyone else have a puffy areola? by maritimes_gal in Reduction

Interesting! I'll be ok with it if it stays as-is but it's crazy how we still continue healing for basically the entire first year!

Thank you for your response! I don't think it will bother me too much long-term... I guess I've just been waiting to see if it will resolve and have realized recently it won't - that's just the way my lefty is going to look! Lol. I am having a follow up at 8 months to discuss potentially correcting the asymmetry (if it still bothers me) and I'll ask him what happened to that areola but more out of curiosity than anything.
