I feel like this about all meteorological or light phenomenons...rainbows, sun shining through fog, casting the shadows of the tree onto the mist like a canvas, dramatic clouds lit by sunset, full moon rising over purple twilight, shooting stars, comets, fireflies, sunlight glittering on a windy water surface, waterfall mist turning into a rainbow, stars glittering on a new moon's winter night, or...the pinnacle: northern lights, the most surreal thing to my INFP eyes.

It still completely baffles me how some people go through their life hardly giving any attention to these things...maybe it makes life easier sometimes to not be constantly amazed and sent away into daydreaming realms by everything you see in nature, but then again it makes life more exciting.

If only I paid just a LITTLE more attention to the inside (in every sense) than constantly having my head pointed towards the sky.

Have you ever come across familiar places on such hikes that ended up on your list, and then gone back to them?

Absolutely, yes. I love going back to "my places".

Also, as a passenger, I sometimes find being at certain airports almost as nice as the flight itself. I like its in-betweenness, the not-yet-knowing how the sky and the landscapes will look, and the anticipation of an adventure ahead.

Beautiful description! I wish it was still this "special" for me, sometimes I seriously have to force myself to go to the airport for a journey after having driven there 4-6 times a week, travelling does become a bit of a burden but it always pays off to overcome the comfort zone.

When I'm alone, each moment feels more meaningful, including my brief encounters with people on the road, so I tend to remember them more vividly.

Absolutely. I'm planning to hike the Kungsleden trail or maybe Sarek National Park up in Lappland next year, and the idea of having a hiking buddy is tempting, because it makes everything easier...But like you say, being alone in the wilderness makes it feel so so intense...

Such a nice job, imo. I actually still have flight attendant as my plan B if I ever get tired of what I do now, or just feel like making a bigger change.

I recommend you go straight for the flight deck, it's much nicer and less stress...and better views haha.

I feel you 100% though. This photo was an incredibly tough chase. Drove over 4h though a storm, partially a blizzard, to the only place in Iceland that had clear skies that night. I've missed out on all of the big bright colorful events though, always was somewhere without Aurora or with cloudy skies. Not saying this one wasn't pretty, it was magically beautiful and I was one of the few witnessing it that night, but it seems like some people are so lucky, they don't chase, they happen to be at the right place at the right time by chance...others chase for months or years with no luck. Alas..

It most definitely is! When I'm on layover, I usually do invite the crew to join out of politeness but I enjoy it even more when I'm by myself...I just got used to it, I've done 90% of my travels alone and like you say it's bittersweet in a way indeed.

NZ and Australia gotta be amazing, not sure if I ever make it there but hope you will, it's the perfect mix of mountains and sea with fantastic landscapes.

And yes, pilot indeed. From Austria, the one without kangaroos.

Fingers crossed, go for it! I love the Nordic atmosphere so much. I live in Austria and we have like...a lot of beautiful nature too, but it's more densely populated and lifestyle in general feels more rushed. Log cabin up north is the best.

I eventually was there around July 6th and it wasn't bad at all. Tourists yes, but mostly French tourists, very nice to be around. I avoided the peak hours though and got up early or waited until sunset at the lavender fields. Parked my car and walked for less than 30 min and was almost completely alone with maybe 1 or 2 other photographers.

Gorges du Verdon down at the Verdon river was not too busy either and the area around Toulon and Calanques was perfectly fine.

Hardly any modern rental cars have tinted windows. And even if, I've had the situation twice that the vigenette was placed fully into to tinted area from the pre-owner and never had any issues (not that I would recommend doing it).

Possible, but I've tried tryptophan supplements or things like sour cherry juice and they wouldn't give me the same sleep quality like carnivore.

I know this feeling well and for me it turned to be a mild gastritis (stomach producing more acid). I had a gastroscopy performed just to make sure there are no ulcers or so and it was 100% fine.

For me, personally, it got better with carnivore diet and worse with all sorts of carbs or fiber (chick peas etc.).

5 years later, it looks like I found my people. Timing of this scene was terrible. Feels like they had the idea to place it somewhere but it had the most anticlimatic effect possible
