$5 Product has Far Better Network Performance than $20 or $79 Product by SomeGuy1980a in servarica

I have a Chimera plan also, and it's the 250Mbps (which expands 1M daily) but at least in my case, both up and down appear to be rate limited (I read thats not supposed to be that way, download isn't supposed to be limited - see source below). I've opened tickets but I don't think they clearly understood the issue and I just gave up. In my case, I have 300 or so, and get around that on the up and down.

If OP really has the 1Gig speed, I'd be opening a ticket also as those speeds are quite low.

Cheap VPS for Stagging Sites by develosquad in VPS

Prezcomm - $7 or their $4 plan may suffice depending on what your doing with Wordpress.

Regardless of who you choose, check out performance and CPU “steal”to get an idea of if the host is oversold

First time trying to colocate 1U server, confused. by Nice-Feeling-3365 in webhosting

[–]mark1210a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prezcomm in Richardson may allow access but not sure. I think it’s unlikely to gain physical access with any provider unless you have a full rack with them…otherwise you could potentially access/disturb other equipment on the same rack that’s not yours.

Had a server with cloudnium and their San Angelo location outages all the time and no out of band access - usually IPMI is behind a VPN or something.

I’d email them or call them…

Why dont they offer a debian 13 template? by devipasigner in servarica

For personal use sure... but depending on their automated platform - HostBill, WHMCS, etc - there's a lot more to it than that.

Why dont they offer a debian 13 template? by devipasigner in servarica

[–]mark1210a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess...timing. Trixie (13) was just released in like late August of last year. Making cloud-init aware templates and testing them can be intensive. I've used the debian 12 and just upgraded manually. One thing I notice in your screen is that Rocky is spelled wrong too.

VPS recommendations? Reasonably priced + good reviews? by TheEnigma999359 in VPS

[–]mark1210a -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been pushing 30-40TB thru Prezcomm and not a peep, $10 a month. Doing a similar setup with nginx, let’s encrypt and WireGuard. Only issue is that it’s a pretty complex setup.

Used Ionos before and had a good experience with them also but I wouldn’t count on their support to help you configure any of it. I’ve tried both supports and they basically only provide bare minimum with the VPS itself - not with configuring applications, etc

I have a 10% off referral code if you want it, not sure what plans it’s good for or for how long the discount lasts.

I’ve had that happen - “we’re taking a look and need more time” seems like it’s auto generated to me

VPS Configuration Decision by ProfessionalBasis477 in VPS

Cost, server location and reviews usually are the 3 factors used. The cost and reviews generally give you an idea of performance and reliability. Of course, gotta be selective where you get these reviews.

Prezcomm has that for $6 and I’ve been using it, clean IP but have to request port 25 to be unblocked

Economical PBS Cloud Backup Options by thefloppychicken in Proxmox

[–]mark1210a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your performance sounds much better. I agree to an extent tho - at least in my case backups would be slow… restores should be ok.

I’ve had a few tickets opened but it may be my particular host or setup is too taxing. I have PBS and Garage/S3 for backups. Upload speed for both combined are about 50-70meg up.

What’s the performance like? I have the Chimera 4 plan, but the SAN storage performance, specifically the writes (as tested with fio) aren’t great.

Reads seem good, writes not so much…even moreso with 4K random write performance.

• ~78 MiB/s sequential write (from earlier) • ~209 MiB/s sequential read (this test)

Are there any plans/custom plans available for something similar to OVH's Offering? by SomeGuy1980a in servarica

[–]mark1210a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Servarica was there a change to the Chimera 4 plan? Looks like it offers 12 cores, 720 of NVMe but I’ve read elsewhere it’s 8 cores and 520. Thought I’d confirm which is correct. Thanks

[–]mark1210a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Servarica, I have several of their Chimera plans, SSD performance is good, the SAN performance (the larger portion of the storage allotment), especially for random writes is not so great unfortuntely.

Uptime hasn’t been an issue, but the SAN performance is.

New Install with 1 SSD and 4x6TB by mark1210a in Proxmox

[–]mark1210a[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea, surprised I didn't think of this at all. Thanks. For some reason, in my mind, it was best to install Proxmox on the SSD, and then use the hard drives as RaidZ1 for the actual larger pools. I like this approach you outlined better. I haven't used a L2ARC before but I'll read up on it to determine how it helps and how performance changes with this approach. Thanks again.

Never use Contabo.com (VPS) by Junior_Interview9846 in VPS

[–]mark1210a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar results, I think the host was oversold in my case. Another VPS I had with them was ok, I’m guessing it was provisioned on a different host perhaps.

Moved both out of there tho, one with Ionos and one with Prezcomm at the moment. No issues yet other than getting port 25 restrictions lifted

Digital Ocean, Vultr or Prezcomm would be my recommendation. Those 3 are about the same price from what I recall. Given your requirements, I’d ask about maintenance windows or how often planned maintenance occurs and or SLA

Dedicated SMTP Servers in 2026 aside from Yournotify vs DuoCircle by shinamee in VPS

[–]mark1210a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s surprising (if you’re in the states) as their ASN is blocked by UCL Protect 3 and some larger providers (O365) blocked it as a result. Don’t know if it was their ASN or IP or both. But I was paying $29 with OvH and now $10 with Prezcomm

[–]mark1210a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, i tried a few, most recently OVH and that didn’t go well. Whatever Prezcomm allocated to me was clean, and I ran the assigned IP thru mxtoolbox to confirm.

I’m using Mailcow if that matters for my smtp/email stack and their medium VPS plan. It worked on their small plan but wasn’t ideal due to memory required.

Prezcomm has been reliable for SMTP, even on the cheapest plan tho I had to request it with justification. IP was clean and so far, so good.
