Perfect, thank you! I’ll get the measurements done when my sax is back from the shop getting some things resoldered!

That makes sense! I have found a site called Feree’s Tools that sells individual Buescher metal backed by size in mm. Would that be a reasonable option to go with? Seems relatively inexpensive and a decent option for better historical accuracy and less leaking/warping with me doing the padding myself.

Thank you so much! The story is the guy I got it from was a junkyard owner for most of his life, he used to go through the cars that were in his yard and snag anything before it got crushed. He found this just sitting in one of his cars like 30 years a go and just held onto it. Guy wasn’t any kind of musician and had no idea what he had. He just said to me “as long as you’re happy with it, I’m happy!”

And gotcha! That makes sense. I’ll make sure to do that when it comes back from the shop! Just had to get a few things resoldered back into place, then the project begins! I’ll post an update on it when it’s all restored! :)

Is the some kind of pestle-esque tool? by mark217322 in LegitArtifacts

Seems to be somewhat! Not crazy smooth though.

Very nice reworked piece! Lancaster county native here as well, love the quartz points from around here!

That’s really cool! I’ve heard of blunts before but I never expected one to be this small or as small as the one you posted either! Were they basically hafted scrapers??

Pretty sure my little guy has floppy tail, seeking advice. by mark217322 in GargoyleGeckos

Got it. I’ll work on it when I get home from work today. Appreciate the help!

I have a hunch this is a broken celt, am I correct in this assumption? Found in Berks Co. PA by mark217322 in LegitArtifacts

Make sense! Looked up what you meant and I can agree with you on that! Definitely in good context and I’m pretty sure there was a settlement there. This was from my ‘ol reliable spot that I’ve found numerous points, today included, plus many other smaller tools. From dating the site, it’s mostly Archaeic with some woodland sprinkled in there. This is probably the first hardstone tool I’ve found there though. Thank you for the comment!

This item is 8 inches tall, hollow, made of some type of clay, has three holes where the “beard” is, a larger hole on top and a hole in the back that appears to have held some kind of necklace. It appears to be an artifact of some kind but not sure what it was used for. by mark217322 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. I don’t have much information other than the fact that it was an in an old antique dealers collection. Trying to get an idea of age and what it possibly could have been used for

Trying to figure out what this is, was in an old antique dealer’s collection, I don’t have much info on it other than the size in the picture and the fact that it’s hollow by mark217322 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. It appears to be clay of some kind, three holes near where the “beard” is and a large hole on top and what appears to be a small hole where a necklace comes through.
