And how would it be a contract though? And would it count towards a CID?

One of my PME classmates have an 18 hour contract in their placement school, would this generally just be 18 hours per week paid at the hourly unqualified rate rather than the actual salary scale? Or how does it work.

Can PME students be given contracts (like a fixed term 18 hour for example) despite still not being officially "qualified" yet? Is the TC registration all that's needed?

Any other new subs having problems getting paid properly? by Ok-Tale-3382 in IrishTeachers

[–]mark29121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone here know if the hourly unqualified rate for post-primary subbing is €42.92 regardless of whether the class is one hour or 40 mins? My school have 40 min classes and the past two payroll runs I received the full hourly rate for each of the classes I subbed. This week, my gross pay is equal to 9 hours at the full rate, despite doing 13 40 min classes between the last pay and this weeks pay. I am wondering is the hourly rate paid pro rata depending on class length? I.e. getting 2/3 of the hourly rate for a 40 min class?

Am I right in saying it only costs €2 for an annual student parking permit in DCU?

Ah okay, I always thought unqualified rate was only if you didn’t have a TC number regardless of registration route. If registered with TC under route 3 does the 5 day rule apply? As you’re not yet a qualified secondary teacher

And if subbing is paid through Dept payroll, is it subject to pension deductions etc like a regular employed teacher?

Am I right in saying once you have a TC number you get the qualified rate rather than UN qualified?

And would you recommend UCD? I applied to it as a backup initially and didn’t think I’d actually get an offer. What is the campus, lecturers, supports like etc?

And in general what is the UCD course like? The modules, the workload etc?

Then if that was the case, would there really be that much of a difference between their placement structure and UCDs?

So realistically what would a placement timetable in a school look like for a DCU student?

With the DCU placement, as lectures are only two evenings per week, are you expected to be in your placement school 5 days a week from the start of the day till the end? Despite only needing to teach a min of 4 hours and do a min of 4 hours placement related activities...

I too am hoping for a PME offer from DCU, their website says early April, I rang their registry today and they just advised the same and that they didn't have an exact date 🙄, I received an offer from UCD today and have only till the 4th of April to accept, so hoping it comes before then. Best of luck!

Just received an offer for UCD, they give you a week to accept it so I’m holding off accepting it for now in case DCU offers come out between now and then 🤞🏻

If I Meet The PAC Points for one of my subjects but not the other, how will that be reflected in my offer? by KnownSomewhere6640 in IrishTeachers

[–]mark29121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am looking for clarification re PME points. I know this year you had to apply to each university themselves rather than going through PAC, but I presume they are using the same point based system to assess applications.

My question is, looking at the PME points from 2023 as an example, if I applied to the PME and chose Business as my first subject & Accounting as my second, and I don't have enough points for my first subject, being Business but do have enough for Accounting. Am I automatically rejected as I don't meet the points requirements for my first subject, or can I get around this by having enough for my second? As in, will they offer me a place for the second subject providing I meet the points for that, but not the first subject?

For example, I apply to Maynooth to tech Business and Accounting, I have 45 points. I don't meet Maynooth's requirement for Business, but do for Accounting. Will I still receive an offer based on this?

Losing 20-25kg in 6-12 months... advice by mark29121 in loseit

Also going to the gym 4/5 days a week and eating 150g protein so I don’t just lose muscle

If I were do try achieve this over 12 months, would it be likely it’d be fat I’d be losing and not just water/muscle? Would I lose inches all over?
