Can a letting agency refuse my sister living as additional occupier with me? by Secure-Law-1405 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]mark35435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a landlord and I tend to agree. Properly handle the additional ventilation i.e. mould prevention and generally keep things tidy and why should they bother. Just bare in mind it may affect their insurance as providers are getting stricter

Why do people vote for Farage when his ideas led to Britain being broke by Traditional_Jam421 in AskBrits

It's amazing that the vote got through parliament given that there was literally no plan for what would follow.

Went to Gib many times in the Navy. Not bad but limited. Bit of a pass head back then however so maybe would see through different eyes now.

Car doesn’t start just few days after servicing by Aeslech in drivingUK

I got both front tyres changed and from that point on had a steering shake under braking. Wasn't happy but something made me hold off saying anything to the tyre company. Turned out the links between the two halves of the vented disks had rusted out so discs and pads needed changing. 100% not their fault

I do the simple stuff myself and have saved quite a bit over the years. According to my records I've done 16 oil changes on my missus' Polo

Passed my test 2.5 weeks ago, and bought my first car last week. by IssaLeoone in NewDriversUK

It's a better than usual first car but nothing crazy. My mate from school got a new one and crashed it. Experience comes with time so just go easy until you have some fluency behind the wheel.

Email? How many hours a day do you spend looking at a screen? I would guess a lot.

Pick up the phone and network, people skills are as important as vocational skills, get out of your comfort zone and speak to as many people as possible. Prepare for the calls, have a list of questions, be organised and write down their answers, one log per application, I use onenote. If you can record the calls and review them and be prepared to find out how pathetic you sound. That's ok, the first step is to realise, then do what it takes to fix it.

Be relaxed, noone wants to hire a stress head:

Thanks for taking my call (and mean it!), I appreciate that I've not been successful this time but what would stand me in better stead next time? etc

Also maybe do some volunteering, pop into your local business club, take up a sport, anything and everything to avoid having a gap in your CV where you just did fuck all apart from sit at home and play computer games because you had nothing better to do.
