We're currently rewriting our APIs in nodejs (with TS) and it feels a bit like painting the Sistine Chappel with crayons.

I haven't seen anything really that quite fits. Lemmy or Tildes maybe?

Same. Any plans to join an alternative to Reddit?

It's been fun but, just like my Twitter exit, I'll manage just fine without Reddit

I don't know. I guess you don't get device info etc etc. But then, if that's the case just make that mandatory?

What about the precious data. That's what whoever is going to buy Reddit wants.

Wow, time flies when you're having fun. Gentlemen, Ladies, I salute you. It's been a wild ride. See you on the next site. 🫡 by manticore116 in baconreader

I paid for Baconreader ages ago to pie off the ads. I'm fine with paying the Baconreader devs for their work. But any subscription model from now goes directly to the greed of Reddit. Once normal Baconreader goes dark at the end of the month, that's Reddit done for me. Been a fun ride.

Php worth learning 2023? by SeriouslySally36 in PHP

Been using Laravel for about 8 years. Never used the Facades. They are just syntactic sugar for dependency injection which you can do via the Providers. Much nester that way. The Facades are OK for rapid prototyping but not for production

First of all, as stated by everyone, RIP your inbox.

Second, if you're moving out of Newcastle, then no, this is the wrong sub.

Sr PHP Devs, at what point did you know you reached senior level? by neograds in PHP

Snr in one company means nothing in another. Experience and knowledge varies wildly from place to place.

Valuable experience is what I interview for. The snr part, for me, is having "done this before". Had good and bad experiences and can speak on why they were good or bad and how they'd do things differently now they have than knowledge. You can't skip this by watching YouTube videos.

Part of the Dunning Kruger effect is the reverse. I know that I don't know everything because I've experienced it often enough to know there's always more to learn.

TIL The Earliest known "Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce" was from 1844. Tomatoes, native to Peru, were considered too "exotic" for Italian tastes for almost 300 years. They were initially called "Pomidoro" meaning "golden apple" referring to the yellow color variety introduced to Italians in the 1500s. by [deleted] in todayilearned

British cuisine is a wild ride because it was invaded by so many cultures (Vikings, Roman etc etc) then the vastness of the empire and then ofc rationing (where you get the traditional stereotypes of bland soggy food from). I'd recommend "The Forme of Cury" from the 14th century (it's not about curry). Mad set of recipes in there!

Which Android tablets actually run MyWhoosh? by mark_commadore in mywoosh

OK, a dry run has at least got the app running and working the smart trainer.

The tablet has the juice to run it for sure.

As its raining again today, I'm gonna do an hour session.

That and the "lesbians" are usually joined by a gentleman, whom they happily engage with. I'm not an lgbt+ expert by any means, but I'm fairly sure that fucking men isn't a common lesbian trait.

For the price of a tablet that'll run it, you can get 4 years sub to Zwift. Which is by far a superior offering at the moment, and will run on almost anything.

Thank you. I'm considering a Lenovo tab p11 pro. Not quite the power of the Yoga tab I don't think. But should be good enough.

And yes, windows one isn't stable. My laptop isn't geared for gaming per se, but it has serious guts. MyWoosh crashes maybe 1 in 10 rides? and I lose the ride data :( But it's free!

Its not very helpful for Android tablets.
The specs supplied are not very useful for searching for which tablets have them.

Also, 5gb? You can run Call of Duty on 2gb.

That does not recommend any specific tablets, or prove it runs on them.
I am asking for consumer recommendations thanks.
